.Greetings NS,

I was wondering what your gnarliest crash was while skiing, biking, skating, ect. It can be anything.

I searchbarred and nothing came up.

damn i wish i had filmed it...but ok. so at a local mountain i was riding the lift up and noticed a gaper flying through the park, i mean he litteraly wasnt turning at all and he was doing a perfect gaper tuck. anyways there was a quarter pipe at the bottom that wasn't completely vertical, so kinda like a really steep shitty jump. i guess the gaper thought it was a jump so he hit it at full speed, flew at least 50 feet while yelling in mid air. when he landed both skis shot down the hill and he didnt move. the next lift ride up there were ski patrol attending to him and an ambulence at the bottom...i also once saw this hilarious video of a gaper yelling "fuck!" and then hitting a "slow" sign it was hilarious..i wish i could find it now though

Longboarding last summer, hit a crack and ate shit going around 35-40mph. Still have the scars on my arm/side.

Also, when this kid tackled me and broke my ankle. Not a crash but still gnarly.

i was casually riding my bike and, being a fucking idiot, put my sweatshirt over the handlebars. the hoodie got caught in the front tire, and i flipped over the handlebars, and my teeth were the first thing to hit the pavement. I only lost bout half of my front one, but it got filled in and you can't even tell

maybe not the worst, but I have these two stories:

This one lil' gaper two seasons ago was bombing the black at my hill with moguls, the moguls don't fill the whole hill - they're man made. (midwest) and i don't know if he even saw them or not but just runs right into the biggest mogul with a ton of speed and BAM he dub ejects and lands chest first on another mogul. that must've at least broken two ribs. and he kept rolling. and rolling. to the bottom of the hill almost to the chairlift. wasn't sure if I shoulda laughed or been worried.

second story, same run. same situation, kinda. It was a ski club night and some i believe some dumbass kid and his stupid friends decided to bomb that run, gaper - tuck. Dumbass (we'll call him that) is doing a steady bomb and clearly doesn't see the moguls. catches his tips on the mogul and front flips to head on another. on his stomach he slides in between the moguls and is still. knocked unconscious. dumbass' friends just ignored him. after three lift rides someone sees him, not even a ski patroller (that was the 5th ride). word is, he only broke his thumb. no concussion, or anything!

sorry for the long post!

my worst fall was the opening shot of this edit. i thought my back was broken at first, but ended up walking away relatively unscathed. until i found out a couple months ago that i have a vertebra out of place.

I'm gonna watch that gaper hit that slow sign probably bout 300 times....+k

Gnarliest thing I ever saw was riding up the chair past the last jump in the 5 line at PC. A snowboarder was slideslipping down the middle of the landing, being dumb, and a skier came flying off the kicker not only to overshoot the jump but to land directly on the snowboarder's shoulders (mind you, this is a 50'+ table) both were down for the count and they closed the jump for the rest of the day. Pretty sure the skier had a broken back and concussion and snowboarder was in pretty big shock from something.

Here's my worse, it was my first season in the park and I was riding rental skis. At the very top of the hill there was a metal pipe on a stand facing perpendicular to the hill with a very small jump before it. I jumped it twice then on my third try (with everyone watching) I jump, catch my ski tips on the pipe and superman down to the ground and land on the ice with my chest. Didn't feel to cool after that.

shattered my heel while skiing in park city. also broke the same foot and tore my plantar playing baseball

got tackled in football and 90 degree break dislocated my wrist, shattered my growth plate and cracked my ulna and radious. FUCK MY HAND UP. will post video if requested. i took it like a fucking man, had that fucker set and had a hematoma block with not pain killers

I was in snowbird a couple years back and un knowingly went of a 20 ft cliff to rocks. The rocks were covered by about a foot of snow so basically right when I landed my skis exploded off my feet and then I tumbled and am super lucky that my body missed all the rocks and my skis were the ones that took the blow.

^That looked like it sucked.

Someone needs to post the go-pro video where the guy mobs a chute, hits a roller and sails for 4 seconds.

I am starting to get concerned because I still have not had a very bad crash skiing. I know it's coming one of these days, last season I had a little tumble where I could have easily wrecked my knee. Fingers crossed that I get beat up enough doing other activities that I won't ever have a bad ski crash.

I forgot to mention, my worst crash was when I was skiing on the last run of the day at Alpental(Snoqualmie Pass) and I was speedin' down upper international, which is the steepest run on the mountain. As I was skiing down, there was a rock or something that I clipped a ski on and ejected. I started flying down the moguls and ice, off a small cliff, and from that point I couldn't remeber the rest. I woke up at the bottom of the run with no jacket, poles, or skis. It was really scary for me because at one point my mouth was filling up with snow, and I though I was going to suffocate. That probably the worst crash that has happened to me 9 years of skiing.

Worst fall was probably when I was like 12 and rollerblading over this 3 foot spine and I lost my balance and fell straight onto my face. I had to get stitches on my eyebrow, and my front tooth ended up dying and turning slightly grey. I haven't really had any bad falls skiing other than spraining my wrist, hurting my thumb, and other little stuff like that.

Unfortunately it is. Somebody was nice enough to film it and put it on youtube for me to watch over and over haha. I was lucky to walk away from that one with only a broken shoulder blade and a trashed helmet and spine pad. Without either of those things I'm confidant that I would have been hurt very very badly. I was pretty damn sore for a few days though, that's for sure.

wheres that one where the guy falls backwards down this huge ass shoot with a go pro on and is like perfectly ok?

On the subject of ski racing, Kitzbuhel. End of discussion. Anyone who can get down that track at race speed has my utmost respect. Todd Brooker's crash at 2:24 is absolutely sickening, as are all the rest.
