Worrying Mums?

I'm 15 and my mum, my dad and myself do ski seasons in the French Alps.. I ski a lot of powder and it really worries my Mum - she seems to think avalanches happen every 5 minutes, every day. I'm just wondering if anyone could help me with calming her down? Post some avalanche safety tips or a decent website? Thanks

Inb4 pee in her butt. Seriously though if she is worried get her to pay for you to take some avalanche training couses so that she knows that you are aware of your surroundings and dangers when out shredding pow. Plus this way you have a bunh of avvy knowledge.

This..I can't afford the proper equipment to prepare myself to be in an avalanche. All I can do is prepare myself to avoid them - someone help me out with this part?

Don't go out of bounds! simple as that. Avalanche danger is not something to mess around with. If you are not educated or properly geared, don't even go. Because even though they don't happen "every 5 minutes of every day," you really never know 100% when they WILL happen. Skiing with other people who are Avy-educated could be a good start, but seriously, take a safety course.

If you cant afford the stuff, dont risk it. Unlesss you have a good understanding of the mountains stay to th sidecounty stuff, where your mum can ski down the piste next to you. If you want to go get into some backcountry as said before take the courses or go on a guided trip. Its not worth the risk if you dont know what your doing.

Take an avy class. I live in Alaska and ski back country a ton. I've taken probably like 6 classes. Inside and outside kind. They help a lot. If you are gonna be skiing (or anything) where there is avalanches, take a class, actually learn about them, by the necessary gear and be smart out there.

Just because the kid skis pow doesn't mean he skis out of bounds.Just take a class as others have suggested. I'm sure it's good information to know even if you never have to use it (hopefully).

very unpredictable skiing in the alps cos they only use avy control for the slopes at most resorts, i suggest getting a guide firstly they know the safe places but a they also know where all the best snow and terrain will be. if i couldn't get a guide when skiing in europe i probably wouldn't go out of bounds not a great idea unless you really know what your doing. guides are definatel worth the money espescially if you're knew to a resort
