Interesting. They need to chill with the zombie movies and get on making the dark tower movies

no!! that is nothing like the book at all. the book had a journalist tracking down first hand accounts of peoples experiences in wwz. which was actually a great book but this movie slaughtered that idea

wow this looks fucking retarded, when i heard about this film I thought it could be good, but this looks like some patriotic bullshit american film. Its really about a man who leaves his family to defend america... so the world and promises hes coming back. Its basically the experience of families with someone in the army. what a load of horse shit, this could have been a good zombie film. now its just patriotic bullshit.

I'm sure it wont college the book at all...which I'm OK with cause while the book and all Brooks books was great..not sure it'd make the best movie.

If you've read Brooks you know he talks about zombies movies at 100% capability all the time..so its not super strong or super fast just full capability. Salon he talks about the "stacking" of zombies or climbing in survival guide if there's enough of them

Looked sick to me. Those zombies were some crazy motherfuckers! The bite and eat people like any other zombies or they just kill people by trampleing them? Haven't read the book...

So this appears to bear no relation whatsoever to the book aside from having zombies in it and the same title. Why would they bother calling it this?

As a movie, WWZ shouldn't have a big star who's the protagonist. It's a series of vignettes describing different human responses to what appears to be the end of human civilization. Eventually, a strategy is developed that slowly but surely pushes back the tide and after years of work the Zack problem is gradually eliminated. There's no big climactic moment where they figure out how to defeat the zombies and Brad Pitt does somethign heroic and epic music plays in the background and humanity survives, and you just know that's what's going to have to happen here.

This is whack!

I will say this. I like how they do use the zombies in a more realistic way. Look slow walking zombies aren't going to happen in real life, they will be fast and will be stupid ( i.e. zombies jumping off a building to get Brad Pit, or running up each other to get up a wall).

They modeled the Zombies off of animal/parasitic/ virus type patterns, which in theory would be how they function. How the Zombies would not be slow because after infection their muscles, and body function would not have fully degraded yet. After a few years of rot, then slow Zombies it is...... But at he beginning fast Zombies.

Just because the film is not exactly like the book does not mean its going to suck, I reserve my opinion for when the film comes out.

he gets it.

look...the book was fantastic, i love max brooks. but it just would not make for an entertaining movie for anyone other than core fans. they are trying to make money, and they are going to succeed. the timing is literally perfect.

if you have read the books, you get annoyed at the last few romero movies where the zombies are using tools and weapons and things. they are mindless machines, programmed to eat human flesh. that is all. they dont recognize basic things like a pipe or a knife or a doorknob (sidestory: it annoyed my in the first episode of TWD when Morgans wife tried to open the door with the doorknob) they would trample eachother and they would climb eachother if they still possessed the physical capability, which in certain types of zombies, discussed in the beginning of the survival guide, would be logical. Im somewhat of a purest, thinking walking dead/old dawn of the dead type zombies are most correct, however 28DL is probably my favorite overall zombie movie so i enjoy the new age full effort zombies as well.

Book was excellent (I also highly recommend the audio book.....incredible voice acting—A ton of amazing actors including John Tuturro—, and the structure of the book is actually perfectly suited to an audiobook/interview format. Just can't suggest it more strongly).

The movie looks quite a bit different, no doubt about it, and I also agree that it's obvious why they licensed the name: Brand Recognition. Though it looks very different, it could still be effective in its own right, I'll reserve judgement for now, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly let down.

And someone above mentioned The Dark Tower flicks.....holy shit, YES PLEASE. Ron Howard directing I believe....Though I understand that, much like The Passage movie (which I'm looking forward to quite a bit more than WWZ) THE DT movie is in development hell.....so, bummer.
