World pop is now 6.5 billion

In the last few months, give or take, the world population increased to 6.5 million people. We only broke 6 billion people about 6 years ago.

Any thoughts on this?

It means people need to learn about the miracle of condoms and birth control, because otherwise we are going to overpopulate, use up all our resources, and be screwed.

you guys are crazy! obviously abstinence is the only answer. just like the dead pope said. i mean, it's not loke we are programmed to reproduce right?

Instead of dropping off bags of rice to villages who cant self-sustain their existance we should drop off crates full of condoms and herion and let them live an enjoyable few more years and have god sort em out.

actually its continents like Africa and South America that are going crazy with population... Europe and America has settled their problems with increasing pop. Italy actually has a problem with decreasing pop.

actually you are wrong. every living thing is "programmed" to reproduce. Most things have a certain time they mate but humans can do it whenenver they want. Its in our DNA but we decide when we want to. Just use a condom, stop it before it starts. I personally don't like abortions but pills are ok.

the chinise too have solved their population problems... they had a thing where if you had more then one child health care or some shit became harder to get... maybe you had to pay more taxes... either way china has solved their pop problem

The only problem with Italy's decreasing pop is the pension problem. Other than that a good infrastructure with a low pop is a good thing.

Oh yes, because everyone can afford to use these things.

The US population is growing at a staggering 1.1%. This is because we have the birth control tools right at hand and affordable. Now let's go to a much lesser fortunate country such as India or Sudan. The reason they are having so many kids is not because they can't keep it in their pants, it is because they need a large family to suppourt their agriculturally based economies. Yes, it is true, there are other types of economies in the world that don't revolve around business and gasoline. I assure you the countries with large growth rates are those that are on farming economies.

Put yourself in their shoes. You own a farm. You need help to do all of the tasks owning a farm requires, but there's one problem. You can't hire anyone, because as it is you barely have enough to feed yourselves. You have more kids. You also need to have more kids because 1 out of 5 will die at birth and more even before the age of 8.

As you can see, it is not people's failure about birth control. It is the ignorance that we Americans project onto cultures that are stuck in a whirlpool of shit.

it will never get to low, but counter acting the birth rates of other nations is only a good thing. If not then we would have seen 6.5 billion a few years ago.

is a savage cycle, you need a lot of kids to help you farm, but then all those kids need food, so they starve or produce another 8 kids thus increasing the population once more, so you need more farms more people, then there is more starvation, NEVERMIND what happens when you have a bad year with weather.

The point is we need to start curbing our numeber, or nature will curb them for us.

well as i said before the countries that we need to worry about are in africa and south america because they still are all farming. In ten years they will be comparable to china

what, you don't think that a huge famine could hit many African counties cuasing widespread starvation and possible war?

And that shit you said about everyone in Africa being tied to farming is bullshit.

There humans, they have a consious, and they can control how many kids they have. Blaming our ideals is absolute pass the buck bullshit.

1. countries in africa such as Sudan and many others rely on farming... this does affect the population whether you care to admit it or not

2. i beleive that human innovation, not plague and starvation, will curb over population

so the few million people that will stave this year, and the perhaps millions more that will contract HIV are not natural ways of reducing human numbers?

not to be heartless or anything but the millions that are starving are not even making a dent in there pop cause there are millions more being born

ya but there is a problem with a decreacing population. as most retired people (especially in europe) expect to be taken care of for the remainder of their lives by government funding, an extra large burden gets placed on the backs of the younger generation, creating for them a huge tax problem. The key is not to lower your population or to increace it, rather the goal should be to keep it level and sustainable so the government can eliminate that variable from its financial calcualtions.

Well, we could thin the population. Its kinda like spring cleaning...but with people. Sure its really really really unethical, but hey, less people sucking up my resources.

Actually I have a better idea. Fret over something else. Seriously. You've got bigger fish to fry.

We should thin people out by non-violent means. Mostly with foreign aid issues and giving food to people that are just going to spread disease and die.

Hey, I'm all for being more selective about foreign aid. Our government money can be used for other things. However many people would have none of it.

fucking china alone is at like 1.7 bill. oh well there'll be some huge natural disaster or pandemic killing lots of people, and the most poplous areas will get it the worst
