World Cup Freestyle will be in Lake Placid January 18-20. Check out details at www.lakeplacidevents.net and see video from last year. 1/20 will be a nighttime aerials party with live music by local burlington band lucy vincent and fireworks after the competiton is over. also $25 lift tickets will go on sale soon for whiteface for 1/19 mogul comp.
 
this is actually a pretty fun competition to watch... i just by chance caught it a couple seasons ago when inverts were first legalized in mogul runs and it made it pretty fun to watch in person. i wouldn't normally promote whiteface, but in this case it's a pretty good time and you should check it out if you're in the area...
 
Yeh Whiteface is a legit mountain, and the head coach there, or he was the head coach, was honestly the coolest person ever.

Just gets mad cold there.
 
Yeh I guess I just remember being up there and it was MAD cold. I am rarely there in the winter though usually just up at the ramps in the summer.
 
its really not--its just that persistant iceface name that makes people think it is. not any icier than any other east coast mountain. its just steeper so you notice it more.
 
I've skied there a number of times over the last 5 years or so, 30+ days on the mountain atleast. In those 30+ days I have been there when maybe 2 days the conditions were nice and the wind wasn't blowing at 30+ mph... I simply haven't had good experiences with the weather and conditions while I've been there. Most of my distaste for the mountain comes from poorly ran races and events. I am excited however to see that more effort is being put into the park so I'm sure I will be giving it another chance at somepoint this season...
 
you make an xcellent point nick. sorry you have had bad experiences, but cool that you are willing to try again. hopefully she wont disappoint. where do you live?
