Sarah's win in women's superpipe was significant enough to make Sportsnet's and The Score's results tickertape last night. Pipe's starting to be taken seriously...

--------
Demo days allow all skiers to try different skis to find out which ones reward their brand of poor technique.

"Pleeease! If I get into Ski Canada, then I'll be able to get a sponsorship, then my parents won't make me finish school.

Like nallepallonen said, Wecxsteen threw out so fucking technical run, but personally i didnt like his style so much. sick run though.

i am the only person to note that these 'world championships' are ratified by FIS? does anyone remember what FIS did to snowboarding and the international snowboarding federation? does anyone care if they do similar things to skiing? admitedly, they've learnt from their mistakes a bit, but they still butt fucked snowboarding and stole control away from the rider run ISF because they were cozy with the IOC. bullshit. now they are claiming to run the world championships for halfpipe skiing? fuckers. how the fuck are you supposed to get high before your run when FIS is running the shit?!?!? down with FIS

^ok then you start a world tour and have a world championship, big talkers, small doers

that's my point. the ISF did start a world tour and championships and when it became time to recognize snowboarding as an olympic event, FIS saw the threat that the ISF was to their dominance of mountain sports and parlayed their influence in the IOC to wrest control of snowboarding away from the ISF. with the olympics as the largest sporting event in the world, most atheletes want to compete in it. to compete in it, they need to qualify through the FIS circuit. athletes and sponsorship dollars slowly began their transition towards the FIS events because the ISF events were marginalized as they were not olympic qualifying events. the cycle of decline eventually led to the demise of the ISF.

there is a world superpipe championship event, it has been held the past two years in park city. but it is illegitamate because FIS is the sanctioning body for skiing in the olympics. therefore the WSC in PC is merely a event on the professional circuit. any attempts to organize a competitive circuit against the FIS one will become futile when halfpipe skiing gets ratified into the olympics (hopefully in 2006 turin, if not 2010 vancouver/whister, and they better not hold pipe on cypress cause that'd be dumb and gay).

^let me get this straight, you are against FIS running halfpipe events, yet you are in support of Halfpipe making the olympics? I don't think you understand... FIS is the only organization that can submit Halfpipe to the IOC, period. If you want to see Halfpipe get in the Olympics, then you have to support FIS Halfpipe or it will NOT happen. It's not about how things "should be", it's about politics.
