Working for Valet parking services?

don't. i've worked there for a year and still do and hate it. its only cool because i work 2 shifts a week when i want and i have other sources of income so i only do it for gas groceries and beer.

unless you suck manager ball sack and follow all their stupid rules you wont succeed but by then you've sacrificed you're pride and dignity. find a different job.

not sure if you are talking about valet in general but I was trained to do valet stuff for a hotel for the busy times and it sucked. Specially in the winter you are cold as fuh in a blizzard, (or even worse sunny park day) standing outside trying to smile. Then if it's really busy once you take their car you have to haul ass to the parking lot, run up stairs (in the case of my hotel) and get the other one.

I'm usually not a swayed too much from online criticsm but the general consensus from what I have hear is the same thing that the management of this place sucks and they are just horrible.

So doesn't anyone know of any jobs for a college student with a decent amount of work history in working with either kids, people, retail, or something of that sort? I can get a resume here if needs be. I'm just desperate for a job as I am moving to the SLC area and have no idea where to start.

honestly I didn't mind it too much but that was mostly because I got lucky and got into a badass pod. My manager was a homie and hooked it up. You make however much money you want to, if you stay late every night then you will make good money. I still work jazz games every couple of months when I'm strapped for cash so I can make 150 or so. It really just depends on who you end up working for and if you get lucky to be honest, and they will hire anyone

Maybe I'll take this job ontop of another job and just split it. I just need to making enough to pay for living and driving and whatnot in Utah so probably at least 1000 a month.

yeah you can make over 100 a shift easily if you're in the right pod. The first month or so blows because you don't make very much money but once you get your managers trust its alright

I did VPS for almost 8 months but that was in 2008 I have no idea what its like now, but it was a pretty mellow job thought. The main bosses liked me and I was lead for most shifts after 3-4 months and got really tight shifts in the fall and made good money but I quit for skiing and never went back. Its a sept-may job the summer is awful, i made more money in october than i did june-sept

I worked for VPS for 2 years. Sometimes it was great, other times it was absolutely miserable. It all depends on where you work, and who you work with. You either work downtown or out south, both have advantages and disadvantages.

I mainly worked out south (La Caille, Tuscany, Franks, Asian Star, Market Street) and enjoyed it for the most part. We did a lot of weddings in the summer and xmas parties in the winter, both of which had potential for mega bucks, however spring and fall sucked. Occasionally, I would get called downtown, and I fucking hated it unless it was a club shift, and that was purely because it was entertaining. If you get a good Downtown spot like the New Yorker or Flemmings, you can make pretty good dough, however most of the downtown spots have shitty parking situations and you have to deal bums and shit. Both areas have places where you can rake it in, and places where you won't see a single car all night. All depends if you get in good with your manager.

If Buzz and Chris are still running things, they are major cock suckers, and Kevin, the owner, is a fucking tweaker.

It's a decent job if you want to ski all day, and make some money at night, but don't want to serve tables. However, the people who run it are assholes. You'll have to stay clean-shaven and keep your hair pretty short. To some thats an issue, others not so much.

yeah the big time managers are definitely assholes, however you only really need to worry about your pod managers. I talked to Buzz/Chris like once every ten times I worked. Really didn't bother me at all.

Who would have known so many NSers park my car for me. Im surprised none of you got lost in the parking lot and never made it out~

Damn shit changed there, when I worked there (june 08 - nov 08) buzz and chris were mad chill and I saw them both multiple times a day and wasn't phased. They always threaten to make you shave with a single blade razor if you didnt shave but i had a ton of days where i was never clean and they didnt care and my hair got kinda long at one point and they gave me shit for a couple weeks (like friendly) and i finally cut it but still I dunno that sucks they got so shitty, im assuming as they got bigger it just got worse ya know?

Yeah Buzz was the guy I talked to about the job. I'm working to see if I can find something elsewhere (ski related) as I have shop experience as well as experience working as a ski instructor. I'm just find a job a super quick so I can move down there to start getting residency/ get better oppurtunites for work then shitty Idaho right now to be honest.

to be honest I always had a good relationship with them as well. But I've heard them absolutely tear into some kids, and a lot of times it wasn't warranted. I guess if youre just not a dumbass then theyre pretty chill.

I had a good relationship with them also, I saw Chris every night I worked and would regularly chat it up with him. Doesn't change the fact that he's a dick, and treated a ton of his employees like shit. Granted, a ton of the employees were dumb-asses as well.
