Working at Mcdonalds

Ok so i am 14 ( turning 15 in two weeks) and it is time for me to get a job. I have heard from many different people( teachers, parents, friends etc...) that working at Mcdicks is a grreeaat thing. because it teach's you essentials on dealing with people and tem work with co workers( and other such things) and also when you apply for real jobs laer on when an employer looks at a reseme and see Mcdonalds you chance at getting said Job just increased.

^^ i have heard that from other people as well as from my friends dad who is a job interviewer( what ever their called) for his company.

Now this is my question. Is this only true for Mcdicks or does this apply for most fast food joints. like say i wanted to work at Wendy's( my other friends dad owns it so i might have an increased chance of getting a job) would i still get the same " benefits"?

I think that working at any fast food restaurant would teach the same principles as working at mcdonalds. As for the resume part, I wouldn't know.

I can't really see McD's being that big of a benefit over other people...in the long run, you still worked at a fast food joint. Just work wherever, you'll be worrying about where to find a job that builds your resume alot more in the next few years.

well im not sure about mcd's but i know wendy's, tim hortons and DQ do so im just guessing but i could be wrong.

Oh and how do i apply for a job if i have no resume?? like not because im to lazy to make one but because i ahve nothing to put on one. I have no prior work experience so what do i do?

in all honesty i would not get that job, if your going to work at a resteraunt you could easily work at some shack of a restaraunt and at least make some small tips, not to mention, people are assholes at fast food places, just having to sit down to order magically makes people more polite, also, if your gonna have a job where you arent gonna have tips and get minimum wage you might as well get a job somewhere where you do nothing, i have some friends that work at chain sports outlet and they literally do nothing except hang out and ask customers if they need any help

hope that helped

^perfectly

get a job at a local restaurant

then in a year or so

try to work at the restaurant at a country club

maaad cash right there

you don't need a resume to apply at mcdonalds. But, if you'd like make one and turn it in anyway, or if you want to apply somewhere else, just make a resume that has your skills/interests/clubs/hobbies/references.

If you've volunteered ever, put that down. If you've babysat, put that down and include the people as a reference.

and put your education on there, the easiest way to make an entry level resume is to use a MSword template.

If i were you, I'd try to get a job as a busser at a nice restaurant in your town. The nice restaurant will look even better on your resume, plus you'll make a lot more money with tips. Also, there's room for advancement there (server/expeditor/manager).

my first job was at earls. the people there were great, especially the women, and those were easily the best nights of my life, no matter how hard the work was. the only problem i had was the pay, it simply wasn't enough, so i quit after 7 months of working my ass off. they didn't mind, they still love me. oh and my boss was Shawn Cable, a professional lax player, so sick.

work at a grocery store

trust me, collecting carts in the lot with a hood up listening to music is such an easy job

it actually does look good on a resume, because it really does teach u lots of essential skills for dealing with people, money, food, etc and teaches you to be more organized. it really isnt as slack as it looks. the pay is shitty though.

McDonalds has training and systems which are recognised all over the world. YES, to many employers, McDonalds offers better training than another company like Wendys.

I did it for 4 years when I was younger and I don't regret it. It will help your resume, rather than hinder it.

Work at a Hannafords/Shaws or whatever your stores are called, it usually looks good on other job applications, because the process of getting the job is annoyingly long, but that just means you "stuck with it" or something, along with other reasons. It may not be the best job but oh well.

i worked at wendy's over the summer, i didnt really like, however,i dont think i would like working at any fast food place for that matter. but it was a job and that=$$ so whatever

I worked at boston market for two years (yes it was that good)

It was amazing, we got xmas gifts, birthday gifts, all when McDonalds owned us, as soon as McDonalds sold us it was the worst place to work. So I have a little experience working for MCD, but not much, But what I can say is that they are a great company, and working for a restaurant is amazing. Free food = saves so much money

I worked in a ski chalet for my first job. I started at 15. Following summer I worked at valleyfair (same thing as knotts berry farm). The April after I turned 16 I started working in a skate shop and kept the ski resort job in the winter. Since, I have worked at a ski resort every winter for the last 8 years. From working the kitchen to catering to ski school to marketing, I've done it all.

Seriously, if you live near enough to a resort to work there, I highly recommend it.

Or go straight for a restaurant as a busser. Working at mc donalds wont hurt, but you will still have to start at the bottom for most restaurants. So start as a busser and by the time your 17 you could be working at a great restaurant making great tips.

Fast Food is the shittiest job ever. You work fairly hard for no pay. Everyone is constantly shitting on you.

6 asians in a one ton diesel truck revving their engine with loud rock music blasting while talking in Chinese freaked the fuck out on me because I screwed up their order. They called me racist because I don't speak chinese.

Get a job in a real restaurant washing dishes or something. There's no rush on the dishes and you don't have to deal with pissed of customers. Plus, after a couple months you might get bumped up to prep cook or something better. You also get tips.

i would recommend at your age trying to find a job where you can sit and browse newschoolers the whole time instead of dipping french fries, that's what I did. Or if you insist upon working in the food industry at least try to get a job where you will get some tips, that's what it's all about.

dude definitely work at McDonald's, Being a past employee myself, I'm not just some NS kid talking shit. If you've never had a job before it's a great place to start and you don't know any better. They are super flexible with hours, are easy to get hired from/quit when you need to. You learn how to work in a fast paced team environment, and you will have some awesome hilarious fucking experiences. I worked night drive through for a year and I have so many outrageous stories. Everything from drive thru dome to parking lot drug busts, to people stealing the phone.

I worked at my local ski shop in high school, and obviously it was great.

but I would have to say if you want a job thats easy to tolerate, get a job at a coffee shop. i currently work at starbucks and although its more hectic than the other coffee shop I worked at, it's fairly easy and time goes by pretty quickly. also because of the free coffee I never feel too tired, although sometimes I get a little nauseous. its not for everyone I guess, but for some reason making drinks doesn't feel like work to me.

the only problem is I work with almost all girls. the gossiping gets a little annoying.

Sorry for thread jack but if you want to apply at a ski shop without previous job experience do you just go to the owner and ask if there are any openings/ apply for a job?

Take these words and fucking live by them: AVOID WORKING IN THE FAST FOOD INDUSTRY AT ALL COST'S

its not worth having "McDonalds" on your resume when you go to work for your first day and find out your manager is named Bonnie and has worked there for 15 years and slicks her hair in a mullet and is the biggest bitch in the world.

word, i was a dishwasher for 3 years and it was the most fun ive ever had as a job. just washing dishes, dicking around and hanging with all the porch ladies. it was amazing.

i work at a grocery store. shit's easy as hell. when i'm at the front on the register i just act nice to nice people and mean to mean people. the satisfactory of smashing some bitchy woman's bread never seems to get old to me. then stocking is just dicking around with guys and not doing much of anything. my boss's don't really give a fuck and i'm actually a pretty good worker so yeah.

my buddy works at mcdonald's. well only for a short time longer. he hates it, everyone there treats him like a bitch. and he says it's way too hard of a job for the pay.

thats cuz you were brainwashed into thinking that McDonalds was a fun clean good environment to work in. the truth is that all fast food sucks fuckin nuts. THEY ALL FUCKIN SUCK. don't work at mcdonalds or any fast food place. wait till ski season and work at your resort. work in rentals cuz that shits so easy you can do it drunk or stoned or any combo of messed up, and as for the resume it'll look better than sittin in god damn fuckin drive through window saying "that'll be 4.58 please pull up."(yeah i still fuckin know the price of a number one value meal.)

sparknotes= fuck fast food.

jealous! this is what i want to do!

i've been working for a ski resort for five years; see what's available at your local resort.

if anything mcdonalds would make your resume look bad.

But I've heard its good time working there be fun when 15 and money doesnt really matter.

you know what , mcdonalds does have an exceptional training program, raises adn all that shit but they are still a large corporation and large corporations dont give a flying fuck about little johnny working in mcdicks location #4775342.

the best thing to do is go to a nice rrestaraunt in your town, walk up with confidence and ask if they need a bus boy, or dishwasher, or anything. Thats what I did and it was the best first job I could have ever asked for.

youre just turning 15, the cant let you use knives or anything... youll probably be a dishwasher for a while

just to let you know
