I just got the beta version of the new windows vista (relase date : end of 2006) and it's so sick, all task bars and windows are black and it has a lot more extras and stuff than win XP, its going to be sick!

vista blows from everything I've heard. It's basically XP with different GUI that eats up WAY more memory and sucks a fat dick.

The GUI interface is horrible, I have the Beta running on a box not connected to the net. Its alright but i dunno if i'll ever upgrade to Vista on my regular comp. Just not worth it.

time to clear a few things up. longhorn, or vista, is STILL A BETA! the gui is nothing like the final product because of the beta stage, what you see will probably all change. there are also many features and capabilities that have yet to be tested in future beta releases and the final product. vista is not a spiffed up xp, and what i've read, it runs faster than xp.

 
yeah you guys cant beat up on windows yet, its not even out yet, and theres still a ton of time where tons of changes are going to happen.

every article I've read from respected windows guru's agrees that vista sucks a fat dick. from it's riduclous 'drm' policies, to the fact that most of hte actually useful features have been officially dropped from the FINAL release, Vista is set to be a piece of shit.

are you seriously defending microsoft? WinFS, the BIGGEST feature that was to be in Vista origanally (it's a new file system, big deal) was dropped.

I am a windows user, and always have been, but there is jack shit in vista that makes me want to upgrade to it (not the beta of course, as it's a stripped down version, but from what all the experts are talking about. it's basically a prettier looking XP with some other features).

if WinFs is going to be dropped that sucks because XPs filing system is terrible, i would rather run SuSe Linux but then again nothing will ever be nearly as good as Tiger, come on widgets, automater and a new advanced terminal that lets you use a "safe" root user so the amateurs cant fuck up there system too bad, and apple has had all that appearence bullshit for years and homies we can take screenshots with a simple keystroke

 
melvs, correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought winfs was going to be released as an add-on after the initial vista release. so what's there to complain about?

 
I haven't heard that anywhere. and if it's released as an add'on, that is kinda retarded, because that would require you to reformat into winFS, which I gaurentee would cause some problems.

word to that. But the safe root account isnt really anything, its just an admin with a little more power. I dont know why you they acual need it, I use the full power root account. And yeah screenshots are nothing for us. command+shift+3, bam we got a screenshot.

Its as compatible as windows xp for the games and the other programs , and it includes the new version(very sick) of Internet explorer

Idk, I'm not gonna say anything about Vista until I steal the beta and try it out. And then I'm gonna be skeptical, because beta OS's never come close to the final product.

i also have the beta, and its alright. they integrated openGL and DirectX, which is good, because then work together now, but bad if you like openGL stuff because it slows that stuff down. but im not gonna judge till the final version.

ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed

with xp, you take a screenshot but you have to paste it into paint and then save it as a jpg... blah blah

with mac, you take a screen shot and it instantly appears on the desktop as a pdf.

 
i agree, but i have a friend who fucked up his computer playing around with root in terminal so i think its a good idea to give less root priveledge to someone who doesnt know what there doing
