Work in japan

Looking at going on a trip to work and ski in japan next winter, was wondering how hard it would be to find a job out there for the season?

Should i try find one before hand ?

I am a bilingual ski instructor (lvl 2 csia), plenty of experience tuning and in the rental shop as well . Also slowly trying to learn Japanese hopefully it gets little easier cause Rosetta Stone is not the best haha. My plan was to pretty much just show up on a holiday work visa and look for work around Niesko or anywhere really just looks like Niesko would be the easiest place to find work.

ALWAYS get a job before hand. Even if you have qualifications it's way easier to get it in advance, and you aren't guaranteed a job just because you've worked in said industry. I've seen people get a visa and move to another country and strike out on jobs at the mountain or mountains near them.

My british friends worked the Northern Hem season through a company that hired out for those jobs. I think there was a UK based recruiting dealio for it. But one of my friends did a few seasons. I think he's working in Europe now though.

Ask around and see what you can find out about searching for opening. Not sure if you can just find them online but check resort websites as well. I would not show up right before the season to wander around and try to find a job. At that point if you don't get it, can you afford to live without working there. Can you afford a pass if you aren't working at a resort. Would you be down to take another job at the mountain as a liftie etc to have some sort of work?

Lock the job down in advance, then get the visa and make the trip happen. They def seem to have a pretty big market for foreign instructors, but i would still lock it down in advance to be safe. Then you know where you're working, can start looking into accommodation etc. Even if you don't have a place to live worked out, you have a job and a general area of where you'll be living. IT's just a lot easiers at least imo.

Good luck always wanted to do a season in Japan, but not down to teach anymore. I still haven't found any good options for park jobs there. Maybe someday.

its easy to get a job there. dont bother with japanese you will only be teaching white people. apply for a job before you go, when applying for the visa do not say you have a job. just say you will find one over there and that you aren't staying in one place for longer than a couple of months.

Pretty much do what PowPow said, I don't know exactly why, but when you word your answers like that it seems a bit easier to get approved. When I was working in Hakuba, Nagano a random girl came up to our lodge and asked if we were hiring so you could always go that route when you're over there lol. Best of luck dude!

It depends where you're from but my visa was a bit of a hassle to get (american). I had to put together an application with my college diploma and mail it to Japan, and had to go to the embassy in Boston a few times. That was for a full year sponsored visa though. If you can get a visa it will be easy to find work, hit up GoSnow they are a pretty big ski school in Niseko.

Hi! I'll be in Hokkaido for the season if you want to link up!

I luckily get to benefit from german citizenship for my working visa, so I'm not much help there... But I'm also working on my Japanese and hoping to grab a night service job (would blow to spend the whole time working and not skiing)
