Well, yesterday, I worked from 1 - 11 PM. Today I worked from 8 AM - 10:30 PM. Tommorow I start work at 6:00 AM. I realise I've had no free time except what I use to sleep.

Dude, I get paid $6 an hour and get taxed like 25%. I got 65 hours on a paycheck and ended up with about $305. Wow, that's MAD MONEY! I fucking hate it.

$6 per hour?!?! please say thats usd. and where are you working, mcdonalds? heres a suggestion, look for another job..if u know the right people or look hard enough theres a ton of awesome jobs. some companies pay ridiculous amounts of money for no work at all and you'll have better hours.

last summer, when i was at the tender age of 14, i put french labels on guacamole from texas (all packages legally need french and english in canada). i got paid $1 per box and i packed about 35 per hour if i worked hard. i would work one day a week for a good majority of the day and would make atleast $300. then the company moved and i was out of a job..damn.

Your getting raped at $6 bucks and dude your 17 you can get a job and do you know how many hours 45 is for a week.

40 hours is max and full time i dont know where you all are from maybe canada or some chinese sweatshop but in california anything over 40 hrs in a week you get paid overetime.

Sounds like some of you guys are doing slave labor!!!

his pay would be bi weekly so 65 hours would be 30 something hours a week.

I work as a dish bitch and get home at 3am whenever I wrok because we just opened and everyone is stupid and slow. I worked 9 hours today without a real break. I just kidna got pissed and went out of the back for 5 minutes, work sucks.

Yes, that $6 is Canadian. As for better jobs out there? You really don't know what you are saying. I'm in Nova Scotia, where the work laws are atrocious. I'm in a fairly small town at that. Every single job pays mininum wage. Thats just the way things operate. It is fucking rediculous. I realise the pay sucks, but there is nothing I can really do about it. I was offered 5 or 6 jobs this summer and they all paid mininum wage except 1. I have to pay my own way through university and when I am working 40+ hours a week for a 4 month summer, I can still only hope to make a net pay of somewhere around $4500, and after tax just over $3400. By the way, I get zero breaks all day. Not even when I work for like 15 hours straight. This is most definatly illegal.

I do get paid bi-weekly but have 45 hours or so this past week, things are getting busy. I work at a golf course and it was alright at first, but now that they are busy and understaffed they just expect like 200% out of us.

I may quit and get a different job, one that pays double what I am getting now. I did this job last summer and it was a terrible job. I worked in a boat shop welding, grinding, dealing with chemicals and crap. I would come home and cough up black shit all the time from dust. My lungs were all fucked all summer.

Not that this is all entirely bad though. When I do get a good job, I will really appriciate it. Also, the money I make I really look after too because it takes so long to save any amount really.

be lucky you make money. I have to do volunteer work at the vet for about a year to show my parents that I'm responsible enough to have a job. They think that because my room is never clean for whole week that I'm not responsible enough to earn money...

minimum wage is different depending on which province you're in. because we had the fucking socialist NDPs in BC our minimum wage is 8 and hour.

in oregon, minimum wage is like $6.90 per hour which is pretty high for the states

Marlin, as mentioned, it differs from province to province. I know the occupational laws and my employer actually does break a few. I am thankful I am making money and that at least my government HAS wage laws. Its pretty hard to get away with breaking wage laws these days for tax reasons and because no employees would stand for it unless they are not exactly 'legal' citizens (aliens, etc.)

not many people will have your experience. i also work a lot for little money with no breaks. i dont like it, but i dig the honesty. i would feel strange doing less work for more money.

 
in bc minimum wage is 8 something so 8 right on,ontario is 6.85 and in new brunswick and stuff its like 5

i work 40hrs per week at a nice sum per hour, but i also get raped by uncle sam. my hours times pay equaled over 950, but i only cleared like 575. damn taxes

my old job during busy season we'd work 12hr shifts (I worked the 7pm-7am) 7 days a week, I had no life at all but I'd clear $1700 a check.

oh, i thought it was the same for all the provinces. in ontatio, i think minimum wage is like $6.85 or something.

i can only speak for myself, but if i was in your position, i would just look around for other jobs. you just might find something..anyways, good luck and hope everythign goes well in the future.

i work at gas docks on a lake during the summer....im 14 and i make 6 bucks an hr. once the summer starts, i will be working 30-35 hrs a week. i will be making decent $$ for someone my age, but i will still have a life. and my job is super chill. we just sit around and wait for boats to come in that need gas, and throw each other in the water. and its hot, and its summer on a lake, and hot+water+summer=hot girls in bikinis, and hot girls in bikinis=fun

I caddy, its tax free and I make tons of money..

Let's say I decided to carry two rounds in a day (about 9 hours), I make 40-50 dollars a bag (2) per each 18 so I can leave work each day with about 200 in cash, which is nice, and that's American dollars..but I usually only caddy one so oh well I'm lazy

i work 2 hours a week, 1 friday night, one saturday afternoon at 3. 50 bucks an hour.

really jen? My bro's a lifeguard, and he worked during the summer as a sub last year. Everybody kept calling him cause they wanted him to sub. This year, he's working the whole summer, and he doesn't haven't to beg for work hours.
