Woot woot, antoine gagnier

He slays soooo hard. I mean rail switch switch up was nuts. Plus broken grinds down urbans the guy is sick. I love his style and I'm glad he's finally getting some exposure.
 
it's depressing how little exposure this guy gets.

I mean i've never even seen half the tricks he did in that segment.
 
One of the most underestimated skiers ...he should get 100 times the exposure he gets now. He's so sick and innovative!
 
i love how he is so willing to do things noones else does, it's cool, a direction i'd like to see more people take.
 
that was so sick, I always hear how sick he is but never get to see any of his stuff, I'm real glad this was posted that was real sick. Everything was styled out like nuts
 
agreed. kid is gay he has got skills but broken grinds and all that shit is sooooo gay and dont say 'oh its progressing the sport' double flips is progressing the sport broken grinds is just copying rollerblading. and dont say that dub flips are copying arials just cause they go over twice arialists are on axis on all there flips. jon and jossi and what not are doing rodeo to flats and what not. nothing like arials... so broken grinds are gay rollerblading is gay..
 
so true....rollerblading should have no ties to skiing......... sure the kid may be good, but broken grinds are you fucking kidding me! wrong direction for skiing to go in. I can imagine the responses i will get from this....but who cares, broken grinds suck, as well as 1 footers, do you see any of the big rail guys like hatveit etc doing them? NO. only kids from the east coast who have nothing better to do than slide rails do them.

Who cares if they are doing stuff rollerbladers do.... they are one a pair of skis and having a good time is all that matters

skiing is its own sport, been around alot longer than rollerblading.

Closed minds like yours make skiing look like a stupid fashion show were everyone should just do whatever it takes to look good and please the judges and end up like male modeling.

If you can ride the biggest mountain, it's cool for you and you proabbly want to progress in your big mountain skiing like teh idea crew did and started skiing fakie down the big stuffs. that is progression.

East coast kids dont have acces to big mountains, backcountry kickers and deep powder should they do like the idea crew and use big ass skis on icy slopes? should they try double off axis tricks off teh 25 footers tehir resorts are makiing ???

Most of thenm decided to take it to the streets and get creative with that instead of spinnign as much as they can on park box or doing nose presses on a 2 feet wide box. They progress another aspect of skiing. It's not big mountain, it's not jump, it's just a different aspect.

When you find that something in your sskiign kinda got old, should you just keep on doing it the saem way over and over or want to try somethign new and different?

 
hahaha that thread is funny. prop for antoine... always doing something new and different. kid doesnt care about what you guys think hes just trying to have fun skiing and try to make new stuff look good. but i guess people here a too idiot to see that were tired of seeing switchup after swup. you are the people that says ski movie sucks these days, and you are the people that says new/different thing are gay. YOU are probably the gay in this story.

I didnt realy like brokens that much until i saw his, he gets so low and makes them look so steezy, and same with grabbing on rails
 
Some people there seem to miss the most important. Antoine doesn't try to copy any trick from roller skating at all. He simply does what is fun to do and possible on skis. Plus, in wich category would you place the tricks I saw him try who are just possible on skis?

I met Antoine last year during he was filming for this movie and I had the chance to shot some pictures with him. I did not miss the occasion to ask him "the" question. And the answer is no, he doesn't even skate.

It's not my fault if roller skating has a lot of similarities with skiing. On the other side, I never heard a snowboarder complaining that he doesn't like some tricks because it looks like skateboarding.

I think the most hilarious part about this entire rant is that the kids talking shit are nowhere near the level that antoine is riding at. if you dont like what hes doing, than thats simply you're opinion, which probably doesnt matter whatsoever unless you happen to be sponsoring him. so admit that hes doing stuff nobody has done before, and hes killing it period
 
antoine is sooo sick... he has something different in his skiing and maybe thats why he doesnt get the props he deserves maybe thats why i like him but some others dont.... he kills everything
 
did you really refer to hatveit as "one of the big rail guys?" the kid is sick, but he's doing nothing for the progression of the sport rail wise. get a clue, cuz.

You're are an idiot.  Have you ever seen Hatveit ski in person?  When he is just fucking around he is just as good if not better and more consistent than any of thsoe people.  Don't judge someone on a 2 minute youtube clip and an X games run, where your "boy" would have totally taken it to Hatveit and made him look like a pussy.

wow i cant believe you guys are hating on this edit... what some of you refuuuuuuuse to understand is skiing does not have any boundaries what so ever! period... anyone can go out there and do whatever the hell they want. its about their own progression. half the people hate because they cant do it. i personally think that broken antoine did on the urban is abbbsurd! its one thing on a flat box. some of you should just focus on whats important which is to just go out and have fun and progress the sport in your own way.
 
hey guys, wich part of FREEskiing you don't understand?? and i can't believe that some people are hating on east coasters cause the are good at rails and don't have big mountains. And anyway, the Antoine is pushing the sport in the right direction. I used to see him ski the other day at Ste-Anne and i was like WOWW. the guy is skiing for fun, do his own thing, NOT THE THINGS THAT PLEASE JUDGES, and calls it skiing, not training as so much comp guys that are skiing for the judges instead of themselves
 
the problem with your argument is that what is or isn't "cool" varies significantly from person to person.

I'm sure a lot of people think downhill mtb racing is gay, but plenty of people love it to.

Also if Antoine skiied like everyone else he would just be another park rat clone that no one would care to mention.
