if i make a box will it be ok if there is just wood on top or should i have pvc on top? i dont want to spend extra money on pvc if i can slide on wood

thanx

Wood will slide, especially if you put water on it (it has to be cold) but it is nowhere near as good as pvc. Dont do it.

i have a flat down box that i made out of pressure treated wood. I use butchers wax which is this really thick rub on wax that soaks into the wood and makes it really dense and slippery. it works really well but you have to wax it a couple times before you session it for a while. once its all waxed up its perfect and as long as you edges are dull you wont have a big catching problem.

i wouldnt make all the my rail like this b.c i have a pvc flat rail but it will work just having wood but i would go pressure treated

i have wood at my house < that sounds funnny but we have some railings wit wood dfds and a lot of water it works

-reppin the midwest

-rip seth we wont forget you

me and a friend recently built a flatbox and were going to use mica but were sugegsted not to because it is extremely sharp and will chip so we ended up using wood and i threw some reg candle wax on the night before and it slides as good or not better than a normal plexaglass box
