definetly agree, dara's jump were really good, good style and good landings, I thought her rails were nothing special though, devin all around I feel has bad style, she looked sketchy on the jumps, her rails were meh, kim had the best rails, 270 disaster on the first rail when most girls were doing sketchy straight slides, although her jumps were not the craziest, she definetly had the best style and was damn smooth, i would have put her ahead of devin, anna segal was pretty smooth overall but what the fuck, not one single grab, this aint moguls, also yuki had a sick first run, i would of almost put her in a podium spot

but overall apart from these girls mentionned, I feel most of the girls who were there were definetly not on that "olympic" level.

 
You saw lisas run? disaster 270 in, front 4 out, blind 4 out, sw cork 9 tail, cork 9 high safety (it was fucking dope too) and she failed on what looked like would have been a sw10 or a 9
 
Quite a harsh statement....but course and conditions selected the truly best like Dara, Kim; Yuki, Katie ect. from the rest like Lisa Zimmermann and others.

Too bad Tiril could not compete, would have loved to see her smoke the entire field.

katie summerhayes had a sick rail section. disaster 4 out on the first rail, surface swap 270 out on the box.

she also got a 12 and switch 12 with grabs along with a 9. Her landings were sketchy as but thought she should have scored higher.

You'll have to proxy your shit to Canada likely to see it, but you can catch everything there.

What I kind of liked actually is that the runs of the top girls were slow and smooth. Sure some of them were hucking for gold, and it didn't look great, but at least Dara and Kim put down damn smooth runs.

I think the problem is when we're trying to compare women to men. Women's sport is always different from men, and when we're making fun of them for sucking we're just being misogynistic pricks. We should do a better job of encouraging them to compete against each other and be unique. Don't spin to win or whatever the fuck it is.... Women should find their own groove within freeskiing.

Killed it girls. Well done.
 
I watched qualifications a bit last night and I'm bummed Kaya didn't make it but Dara's run was sick^
 
Fuck the stupid Olympic coverage. Who cares if the runs are online post to the event. So dumb nothing is online to stream free.

The olympics are NOT the world stage, Reddit and Youtube are more of a world stage than the olympics.

At least Canada knows this and post stuff up people want to see. Stupid Yahoo Sports is like, "this is cool we have two nerds talking about the outcome with maybe for shitty photos if you are lucky enough."

Im glad I've been able to see runs that people are posting unofficially, currently you are my olympic experience.
 
They need a separate course that's smaller, like girls downhill racing. They tried their best but they didn't look like olympic level athletes. There is no other olympic event where the athletes look that out of control, 1 3/4 front to back smash is jackass stuff.
 
to you fellow US'ers i have a solution!

Find a canadian proxy, just google it, then look up how to enable a proxy. You can do it within firefox and chrome pretty easily, then you can watch CBC broadcasts. They have announcers that can actually name tricks! Like if you Canadians listened to what we had, you would just be laughing.

AS for the course, what the fuck. This is the Olympics, getting speed shouldn't be an issue for 90% of the field in the finals. Fucking ridiculous, and if i even hear Bob Costas say Yuki was hurt because this sport is unsafe I will personally shit on his pillow. I feel like she really fucking worked for first and the shit show slush pile that was the jump line fucked her. Her rails were the best by far imo.

Pretty stoked that they did that well at all, not too happy Kim didn't beat Devin but at least she medaled. Overall the judging seemed pretty consistent and wasn't too shocking the ladies performed well with what they had. Wish it was a good course so we could have really seen them at their best, this put wayyy to much on simply surviving your run, not really throwing down.
 
sounds like Yuki Tsubota broke her jaw on that gnarly crash in her 2nd run. Hoping for a speedy recovery for her! Her rail section was great! Happy with the podium but in my eyes it should have been 1) Dara 2) Kim 3) Anna Segal
 
I disagree. Her rail tricks were good, although a k-fed is much easier than it looks IMO. But her jumps were sketchy in almost every way and she hit the small side.

That being said, props to a girl who grew up shredding dope and dry slopes
 
not to hate on Katie but I'm pretty sure there were no 12s thrown. She only spun 9s and your never gonna score high hitting the smaller jumps.

Judging was on point, Dara's rodeo 5 truck was $$$. Would have liked to see Maggie skiing in it though. I think that would have made everyone have to step it up as Maggie has some of the biggest tricks out with solid style.
 
CBC is fucking killing it on that front. Every event is streamed live and then posted to watch afterwards. Tightest shit since fucking sliced bread.

Evidence enough that there should be at least NBC subscriptions that has no affiliation with a cable company and is available for viewing by anyone willing to pay a one time fee or whatever. That in my eyes is the least they could do with the current state of television.

But yeah, you'd think your country would want to make something like the olympic games accessible

I'm not sure how the women felt but after watching so many girls land close to the knuckle I think the jumps are too big. This is exactly what Sarah Burke was talking about, and after seeing Yuki have that crash! However, the girls killed it!!!!!!

Everyone can say what ever they want I really dont care... All im saying is that girls skiing was a disappointment. The top 5 girls and Lisa where they only ones with runs that weren't an embarrassment. Half the girls could barley even ski down the course! Also dont try calling out kids on NS when you have no idea if they can actually ski or not
 
Who cares how well someone can ski. Just because you can cork 7 and some other jabroni can only do a three does not make your opinion on the topic any more valid than his.
 
No, they really aren't capable of much more. Women are athletically inferior to men, it's a fact. WNBA teams get beaten by high school varsity boys teams, and the US Women's Olympic hockey team practices against high school boys teams and gets beaten, routinely. Examples are all over the place, women's sports are drastically inferior compared to men's. which is why you shouldn't compare the two at all. Are you seriously insinuating that Olympic athletes at the peak of their sport aren't trying or "are capable of so much more".
