Any guy who takes a women's studies class hoping to meet girls is sadly, horribly misled. That department is quite possibly my idea of a nightmare.

first off, ill discuss the hegemonic line that exists between men and women. Most women exist below and most men exist above the hegemonic line due to male dominance and the multiple levels of power including societal, organizational, interpersonal and individual. for instance, if a man wanted to go below the hegemonic line of power, they would be visciously teased by their peers because people dont understand why they would want to give up these powers. When women cross the hegemonic line to gain more power, they are viewed as deviant and strong or blood sucking bitches. Now you all must considerr that everyone is a product of their experiences (Mayhre 2002) and different parts of the brain will develope over time due to these experiences. ex. women have larger corpus colossum so they can supposedly multitask better than men. this is because they have had to multitask and their brains have adapted.

Yoder (2003) noticed that when a baby (whether girl or boy) was wrapped in a blue blanket, adults were moer likely to be more aggressive with the child whereas a baby in a pink blanket are cooed at more often and rewarded with adoration and attention when they cry. Now since this theory has been speculated with great effort, we can assume that males and females are brought up to be a certain way. this, as i stated earlier, effects the way one acts or thinks. have you thought of the fact that in certain cultures in which women are treated as equals the hegemonic line disappears and women are more apt to acquire teh same powerful characteristics of a man.

basically what i mean tto conclude with but failed to do so is that if you bring your kids up to think that there are no major distinct differences in males and females except for their genitals, the gender gap will narrow greatly. youll see more females that can kick a guy's ass and more guys into crocheting (sp?)

I know my place. Women need to quit bitching. We can vote. We can go to college. We can own land. We can run for president. We can do whatever we want--- but in some cases men are just generally going to be more successful. And I think a lot of women are in denial about that. And I'm sure there are things that women are general going to be more successful doing rather then men... I just can't think of them right now.

and for the two or three of you who said that women should know their place, and there are some areas where men will just succeed over women, this is true. But you also have to remember that there are places where women are far better than men will ever be. Running a daycare, Nursing... the problem i think you run into is that you dont belive these jobs to be as important as owning a comapny or being a police officer. I personaly belive that these jobs are the backbone of our society. Everyone needs a nurse at somepoint in their lives. Any parent knows that daycare is a good place to send your children. So dont be so bitter or negitive when you say that you need to know your place. Your place can be important too.

Women also probably make better surgeons. Although more men are doctors, but thats only because men are smarter and it is easier for them to succeed at med school.

But who in our species gives birth and feed the child for the first 2 or 3 years of their life with their own body? I dont think that many men would have the patience for that. Im not saying that their arnt exceptions to the rules. I have an ex girlfriend who i would never entrust children too because she just isnt good with them, in the same way i wouldnt want her to take care of my parents. Im also not saying that some men wouldnt be good nurses. Teaching is one of the enomolies that i see. In my mind women would make better teachers than men. But we see many male teachers who are good at what they do. I guess its a question for the Nature/Nuture debate. Is it learned behaviour or is it genitic and inescapable?
