Women In Freestyle Skiing

Alright, so I’m not sexist or anything, but women park skiers are like really really bad. It seems they have no style what do ever. I think the reason for this is the lack of creativity open to women in the ski industry. I can’t remember that last time I saw a street edit made by a chick. After watching the latest jib league post, I feel that more women have to shift over to the creative side of skiing rather than the competitive side. What do y’all think about this? Let me know of some women who actually have style. Do women exist on NS?

bad opinion obviously but come on dog did you not see surface dropped an all female street video. You never watched taylor's real ski? On a more positive note, even though there is *generally speaking* a large undisputable discrepancy between mens and womens skiing, things are changing. Outside of typical competitions there's women only rail jams and bigger prizes for womens skiing in regular jams. There's also companies like vishnu putting on female skiers who aren't comp skiers.

I feel like skill level of amateur girls is quite low, but pro level girls are starting to be really good and few of them have actual style like Olivia Asselin or Anni Kärävä.

Worst way to say something is "I'm not _____ or anything but". Everytime someone starts their sentece like that you know it's going to be exaclty what they said it's not going to be.

The whole thread is kinda of a joke. Half of the stuff on NS is shit posting and making fun of stuff. I’m not at all trying to undermine the accomplishments of other skiers. All I’m trying to do is lightly poke at women skiers in order to highlight the noticeably different opportunities that women get in skiing. Thank you for input and your opinions.

Well, this is why I made the thread. Thanks for letting me know about these edits. I want people to prove me wrong a change my mind. That being said, I still believe that more opportunities need to be open to women in the sport.

You should come to superunknown right now and realize how wrong you are lol

I agree but you just have to look at the numbers to see the actual number of women park skiers vs men’s. More opportunity and marketing for park should be focused on women.

You can't really hate on women's skiing these days, it's not 2012 anymore. A lot of those girls are better and gnarlier than a good guy park skier at your home mountain.

I would hate on women's skiing back in 2012, a lot of people were, but these days you can't really

its pretty disappointing that the mods aren't deleting a post that is blatantly sexist. literally no different than being a racist.

Sorry if it came off that way, I did not intend for the post to be hateful. I would delete it if I could, seeing the feedback. My purpose in posting this was to shine light on the fact that women should have more opportunities.

Maybe start with that rather than "theyre really bad"

didnt intend for it to be hateful, but your post literally says:

1. women specifically are bad at skiing

2. women shouldn't be in competitive skiing

lol?

I never said women should not be in competitive skiing. I said I hope more pursue the creativity side. I would say the exact same thing for men. I apologized for the first point, I did not think it would be taken as seriously as it was. You have to cut me some slack. When I see skierman call people fat fucks all day, it makes me think that I can make jokes and not get flamed. And once again I apologize as this was in poor taste.

Bud really thought we were going to analyse every word of your post like it's Shakespeare.

i totally agree, and I'm glad to see that more opportunities are opening up now. It's good that you're willing to change your mind on this topic

Okay so as the only women *it seems* to respond to this thread for now...

The reason I entered this sport was because I didnt see how men could be better than women due to biological facts as is pretty much all other sports. There is no biological reason chicks cant ski park as well as men. I mean if a 12 yr old boy can throw a dub 12 so can a chick. And we have. In fact, women have done triples, dubs 16s, 3 swaps, 6 outs, etc. literally everything men have done by now. The reason women are "really bad" is because the representation hasnt been as active and the progression is behind.

I mean, 18s and 21s have just been in the past few years for men. Women are biologically lackin in testorone so we kinda have to work 10x harder than you to be able to handle g forces and impact of a huge jump or whatever.

So I get it OP, you probably do respect women and this thread maybe came off wrong. Women are passionate and want to progress this sport. I think women still have a long ways to go, and so do men. The creative outlets for skiing are the same for men. If anything skiing has been more appealing as ever to women with having all women rail jams and Superunknown going from having the first women at Superunknown to having a category for women. If XGames still had real ski, women would probably have their own categories in that, too.

I agree with what your saying but we made the remark (talking with very involved girl skier) that a lot a girl with a natural talent get rapidly frame by a coach or a team which push them to learn the big trick that is "already there" and i think op is saying , in a very terrible way, that he wish to see more creative girls on the hill. Again talking with my consultantes i feel like they're fully aware of that and theres been changes and it's continuing to go forward. The futur is really bright!

id like to add that this goes for man too everyone should see ski progression their own way the "staple tricks" are boring i wish to see more people going there own way

i am a decent skier.

here is a list of all the stuff that women competing at x games are doing that i am not:

fucking every single trick

also, what do you mean by 'lack of creativity open to women?' - creativity isn't open or closed. people themselves are either creative or they are not

Bro probably likes Antonio Brown. CTESPN shit.

I have seen women at Hyland absolutely destroy every rail there with style and are way better than me. We're also seeing the biggest boom of women starting to throw down in park/street. Just be happy for them and making community larger.

Didn’t know Vishnu had a live stream. Is it a podcast type thing or just a one off Instagram live?

it's an IG live but he does them pretty frequently, I'd say on a weekly basis. Also kind of funny bc he had a few girls on stream like Rylie Warnick and Annabelle Santerre who are both sick skiers

And its not like skiing is one of them Male Female large difference sports where being bigger helps, like fr 120lb weed smokers in the worst shape of their life be landing triples, I think women could be on par, It’s just a male sport in general, not a lot of women want to or like skiing
