SAO PAULO, Brazil - A woman in northeastern Brazil has given birth to what one doctor called a 'giant baby,' a boy weighing 16.7 pounds.

Francisca Ramos dos Santos, 38, gave birth to the healthy boy named Ademilton on Tuesday at a hospital in Salvador, 900 miles northeast of Sao Paulo. He was the largest baby born at the Albert Sabin Maternity Hospital in its 12-year history, the hospital said.

'Obviously the baby was born by Caesarean section,' hospital director Rita Leal said. 'Both mother and baby are doing just fine.'

A 38 year-old woman in Brazil has to be feeling a lot better today. It only makes sense after she delivered a 16 pound, 11 ounce baby boy. Yeah, you head me right, 16, 11. Francisca Ramos dos Santos, delivered the almost 17 pound kid in Salvador, Brazil. It is the largest baby in the history of the hospital and it is assumed to be the largest ever born in the history of the country. Uh, yeah probably. 16 pounds, 11 ounce ademilton was her third child. She suffers from diabetes and diabetics often deliver large babies according to a hospital spokesperson.

Large, sure, but full gown children?

Are they sure that she just didn’t keep that kid in there for an extra nine months. Did she just forget to squeeze the kid out and thought she would go around the horn again and do another nine months? A nearly 17 pound baby? And needless to say the young man, and I use that term on purpose, was delivered by cesarean section. Um, I would sure as hell hope so. I don’t think junior was coming out the old fashioned way. Did the kid have his drivers license when he came out? Did he have a family of his own? Was his 6 feet tall? I’m sorry, but people can’t be going around popping out kids that are the size of two year olds. That’s not healthy. How big is this kid going to be when he is finished growing? 7’10’’, 500 pounds? That would be about right, considering where he is starting from.

The hospital spokesperson also added this, “she knew Ademilton would be a big baby but not this big. She, her husband and the hospital staff were all caught by surprise.� Yeah, I would imagine that they were. A kid pops out with a 5 o’clock shadow, I would imagine that is pretty surprising.
