i don't know how many of you have heard about this, but this woman was waiting in the emergency room and she was vomiting blood and rolling aroung on the floor for like 40 minutes. and the nurses were just staring at her doing nothing, and two people called 911 but they said they couldnt do anything because she was already at a hospital.

Wow thats horrible. I thought emergency rooms where supposed to be fast, especially for something of that severity.

yeah....and the news said that they had the janitors walking around her wiping up the blood. but they just watched her.

i went to emerg sunday night for my hand. i couldnt use my right hand at all ( i knew it was tendonitis but wanted to get some meds and proper diagnosis) i get there and the nurse says it wasnt a good time to go at. like wtf is that shit. its the emergency room. theres no proper time to go

i was having apendicitis and had to wait for 3 hours in there. if your appendix bursts you can die, mine was only hours from bursting when they took it out, i was so pissed. i hate the ER

yeah, and someone called 911 to have an ambulance take her to another hospital form that one and the operator was being a dick saying "no, it's not an emergency"(prob thinking that she was lying or something) - i heard the audio from it on the radio

i volunteered at our hospital, and i was in the ER every saturday, it wasnt really a happening place, i thought i'd see a lot more. hardly anyone was ever in there. so i pretty much just stood around for 4 hours. but i did take this drunk guy who had fallen off his porch to the car pickup...

haha and there was this really crazy lady from jail there.(now that was scary)

i live in ottawa and when i broke my hand i was there for 3 hours. many people told me they couldnt believe how fast i got out

i live in ottawa too but when i went cause i broke my colar bone i wqas there for 6 hours. but i was on meds so it wasnt as bad

thats fucking horrible. the police officer that they asked for help arrested her of a parole violation instead of getting her help. She died when they were taking her out of the hospital.

i hope that family sues the living fuck out of everyone that didnt help thats such bullshit

if i was there watching someone i loved have that happen to them i would physically cary a nurse and throw them on yeah graphic

that ridiculous hosipitals should prioritize who needs there help and help them first this is just ridiculous

most American hospitals have at least one ethicist on call at all times. And we don't know what the situation was like at the hospital in terms of physician availibility. It sounds like there was a combination of gross irresponsibility and understaffing.

i waited for 45 minutes when i broke my wrist and 1 hr 20 when i needed stiches.it so screwy how they choose ppl they think need help more.

if you know much about hospitals youll know that they are usually packed tight and its extrememly hard to get priority because there's always a line due to people who go in with headaches and cramps

i dont know how obvious it was that this was severe but its not always easy to prioritize people and tell others that have a small percentage chance of dying that they have to wait longer in line

i wehnt to the hospital the other day cuz i thought i was dieng, bu they were so slow and made em wait forever and then soem balck guy got stabbed so they had to deal with him befor me

emergency rooms definitely do prioritze patients. if you are there for a non life threatening injury, your waiting. if your dieing your gonna get help quicker. its not like people walk in there and take a number, if your fucking dieing your getting helped before the kid who needs stitches.

i heard that the operator thought she was an illegal immigrant because her last name was rodriguez or something like that. but it shouldnt matter because of the oath people take

this is completely true but it can be very difficult to prioritize people especially if the damage is internal instead of external

dude wen in 2003 i was 10. and i sliced my head open on a huge peice of glass wen i fell on it and i was bleeding from the top of my head and i was in the waiting room for 40 minutes it was ridic.

if you have anything even a little bit serious you get in right away, at least where i live. I didnt have to wait at all when i broke my arm, and I dont think thats life threatening.

thats because so many douchebags these days go to emergency rooms for the dumbest little shit, like ooh i have a cold!

people need to learn to go to walk in clinics when they have a colds/illnesses.

last time i went to the emergency room when i broke my hand, there were like 20 people there with just the standard flu or typical sickness... or so it seemed. I could be wrong though.

my mom works in the emergency from time to time though, SO she just took me in and got all my shit done for me in like 20 minutes (hahahaha)

but normally it takes about 6 hours on average to be seen and out of there.

yes you can, guy with a broken hand or woman rolling around on the ground spitting up blood

who do you treat first?
