WME vs. Level 1 lawsuit details

To show WME that there was no need to start this, no damage was done people will still go to their movies. I'm going and wearing my level 1 tee.

This is tough. Chris Anthony is a good guy. We went to high school together and raced together. He and the other who have skied for WME don't deserve the rath of NS, but WME def does. I skied for them and in "50" and you could already tell that things were changing.

Warren's bio was pretty interesting:

Warren's a stud and he is the ultimate ski bum. I mean that in the best possible way. Ask yourselves this. Is it worth going to see films made by a company whose executives have so little faith in their own ability to make quality movies. Instead of innovating, they have to litigate over who owns Warren's voice. Fuck them.

That's just... dumb. Obviously damage has been done, this lawsuit has garnered significant negative publicity for their brand. Why on earth would you ever want to give these people your money? I wouldn't go if they were charging a dollar a ticket.

I meant that if they hadn't filed the lawsuit then nothing would've happened, everyone who was planning on seeing their movie would still go.

but why even give them your business, the way I see is if you help WME profit at ALL then you support them. Wearing a tall tee from LP1 doesn't do shit , picket outside the premier or give out flyers to people seeing the movie don't fucking pay those dooshbags.

What if Rosa Parks and the Montgomery bus boycotters had decided that they were planning on using the bus anyway and the boycotts didn't happen? I don't really understand your logic

stupid people

they determined level 1 wasnt taking away from WME's sales so nothing could be done against level 1

I highly recommend listening to the level 1 podcast, Another Level Ep 10: Refresh, to hear this story in its entirety with a lot more detail. WME used some dirty underhanded tactics throughout this fight that unfortunately are all too common with large corporations in the ski industry and beyond (looking at you Scott and backcountry).

I know plenty of people that know about this debacle and still see WME movies which I can’t wrap my head around. They haven’t produced an original film in what, 20 years?

Edit: removed SoundCloud link. Apparently it wasn’t on there anymore?

You’re the man thanks.

They do a great job of showing how different Warren Miller was from WME.

100% idk the average age of kids on ns these days but there’s ALOT to be learned in all of those level 1 podcasts. Gonna add to this and say there’s a warren miller documentary on amazon prime that came out this year that I think more people in our niche community should watch. He was a legend and the films he did were incredible especially for the time, the wme films were never Warren Miller films in my opinion.

I had no idea about that documentary. I’ll have to check it out.

Highly recommend it, personally think it’s one of the best overall documentation’s of the sport to come out in awhile and Warren was the epitome of a true badass ski bum
