I've been wanting to get a legit glidecam since day one. But since all of these new stabilization designs and products coming out lately, Im kind of sketched out on the idea of investing $500, and then something new and better comes out. What are your feelings, get the glidecam or wait?
 
honestly the best you're going to get for the budget i'm assuming you're on is a glidecam HD series. some people prefer other things, but until you step into the world of giro-stabalization, they're all going to get the same results with a little practice
 
yeah the problem with the newer stuff is the huge price gap between a Glidecam HD2000 and a Movi for example
 
You realize that a Movi is at least a 3-man operation right? And using one would cost you way more than the $15,000 Price-point.
 
I think he was referring to using it on a more movie type set, not skiing. But thats what I figured, really want one!
 
Yeah, you could run it solo for skiing, but if you're using it for skiing a Glidecam or

Shoulder rig would be Cheaper and more practical.
 
You stated that the "Problem" with the newer stuff is the huge price gap. I was aiming at stating why that price gap is so large.
 
Yeah, its good to dream big but you might wanna take the movi out of that list for now.

You really cant get better than a glide cam for $500 bucks and the tech has been the same for 40yrs.
 
Then what is on your list? There's not really any new technology with a comparable price tag to a Glidecam

You don't even have reference/test video, you don't even know how it performs. Nor does it have the heaps of positive feedback that the glidecam does.
 
IM NOT COMPARING THE SPECS OF THE TWO. Im simply stating the fact that more and more stabilization products seems to be coming out since the glidecam is becoming more popular.
