Winter X games 2011 in Tremblant?

Yes this is true. As much as I would love to see x come to a place that is a driveable distance from where I live, it will never EVER come to Quebec and probably not to Canada.

I thought they didn't even broadcast the X Games to Canada (I may be thinking of a different event). So if they don't broadcast it there, why the hell would they have the event there? They do need to leave Aspen when the contract is up though. It would be nice if they did different locatons though. But they will never leave Aspen because the world ends in 2012.

Different event then. Something wasn't available to Canada. Sorry NS. I'll now hang my head in shame.

i went to X back when it was at mount snow

they should do it on the east coast

i think the dew tour gets way more publicity over here on the east

fuck the east coast. Aspen's park isn't the greatest but with all the problems mount snow had right before the dew tour, no point in trying to go back there.

IMO, it should go to mammoth, great park, and really no big slope events for skiing there.

Honestly, Mammoth would be a GREAT place, but a few things hold it back.

Benefits: Close to LA (media capitol of the world;easier for ESPN), lots of snow, great runs for all of the X Games events, Oren Tanzer knows how to build a park, capacity for a large event, easy to get to if you're down to drive awhile.

Disadvantages: It's far. Five hours from LA, 2 1/2 from Reno. It's in the middle of nowhere. Would So-Cal people be up to drive that far for Winter X? Would the rest of CA want to travel around the Sierras? Although, I'm sure you'd get a similar amlount of people as it does in CO, but maybe not.

To be honest, Utah or Tahoe would probably be better places, specifically Utah. The infrastructure is in from the Olympics, and SLC is damn close to the hills. That is the biggest benefit. Spectators can stay in a city and drive there. Can't do that too easily in CO or Tahoe, and definitely not Mammoth. Tahoe has Reno (that doesn't really count) and the Bay/Sacramento is three hours from Tahoe, a somewhat similar distance for Denver and Aspen.

lol naw, that shit is never gonna go to quebec in my opinion. i think the weather is too unpredictable, too small mountain, would ppl actually mission all the way up there? etc

I ski with at Tremblant all the time and speak regularly with the Intrawest guys up there and they have never mentioned anything about this happening. For now I am going to just say its a rumour but I'll try and get some confirmation from their park manager ASAP.

In my opinion I don't think it would happen for the sole reason that their halfpipe is not at a worldclass level. I've been told that they are looking to relocate their halfpipe and get new equipment, but until that happens I don't see X-games coming to Tremblant.

I really hope I'm wrong because that would be so ill. I think they could make a pretty sick slopestyle course for the athletes but we'll have to wait and see!

I heard yawgoo rhode island best option

/sarcasm

but they should come to the east like the beast or someplace like that

didnt they film a car clearing the halfpipe in an advert to host it, thats what i heard

i definitley N* were after hosting after the lease in aspen was up

They could have it at Keystone. It would be fun to watch all the athletes get kicked out for skiing too fast.

it'd be kinda tight if they did it in Park City. Would also make sense. Way bigger airport near by, can handle way more people than Aspen, deals with another big event every year (sundance), and the new run they are trying to cut at Pick would work really well for it.

Truth be told though I doubt ESPN even knows what they are gonna do right now.

lol... Tremblant didnt even open the halfpipe last year cuz of the shitty weather so its not coming to tremblant..

but i dont know where u heard that, but if it did thatd be the sickest thing ever.. also u guys arent thinking about xgames in general and just talking about skiing, dont forget they also have snocross with snowmobiles and i really dont know where they can do that..

And dishwalla what is this new equipement that tremblant is getting for next years park..and where are they gonna relocate the pipe.. it cant be on the south side (flying mile) cuz theres no room... northside park is crammed and i hope they kep that sick line of 3 jumps they had.. and alpine is too narrow... or maybe at the right of the beauvallon before the alpine starts where they usually put up a race course

There was no pipe because of no snow and a high cost for something that nobody uses. No plans for a relocation of the pipe, but the jumps line will still be beside the flying mile and probably be a line of 4 jumps again.

X games won't come to Tremblant because of weather conditions and there won't be enough space.

x games is such a massive event and involves so much organization and logistics i can't see them moving from aspen any time soon. they've been doing it there for years and seem to have everything working pretty well, so to move to another venue would be massively expensive and impractical
