Winter X games 2011 in Tremblant?

this. except they are eventually planning on moving the pipe somewhere to the southside where it would get more sun and not be as icey. Only thing is this move is going to cost them tons of money and therefore won't happen for a long time. I would be willing to bet we won't see another pipe until they do have the money to move it - because their current pipe cutter is old and the pipe is such a huge investment for them that doesn't get used very often.

and I spoke to Simon the Park manager at Trembs and he has not heard anything about X-Games so I think it's safe to say this rumour is (unfortunately for all Tremblant peeps) false.

The proximity to LA is both a benefit and a disadvantage, huh?

Yea, it's good cuz it's close to LA, but bad because it's far from LA.

Intrawest is still its own company. they are just owned by Fortress. Intrawest still has its own CEO etc... and operates as a stand alone company. Fortress just purchased all of Intrawest's stock and it is just another investment on their books. They might have a seat or two on the board of Intrawest but they don't operate the business themselves.

lol what are you saying, everyone loves quebec. well they should anyways, you always have a good time in qc

Please stop this none sense about X-Games in Tremblant.
Tremblant is an awesome resort with great people, especially there event team. That said, Tremblant is lacking leadership in producing relevant experiences and doesn't have ressources to lead such an ambitious project.
I still dream about it and wish this would happen, it would be amazing for everyone living on the East Coast...
See you guys at IF3! :)

they would easily have no problem roping off some of the main run to the town to construct a pipe.

as for the other events, the lake would be a good spot for any snomobile events,

but in reality i dont think it will happen, as much as i would love it ..

i herad that the reason, was insurance, i asked someone who works a TB. and he told me that the machine to make the pipe, was not like the new ones, like it made a diferent type of pipe, like the height of the vertical was to big, so the insurance, didnt want to insure it, and Tb didnt want to buy the other thing. I could be fully wrong tho...

Yeah Québec sucks so much, there are no good skiers there and back in the days no skiers from Québec were the pionners of newschool....

That being said the weather here sucks alot these years and wouldn't be appropriate to host a competition like this. Imagine 20mm of rain mid january, it would be so nice for the landings...

Even though it's already been mentioned, here's confirmation winter X is going to stay in aspen through 2012 at least:
http://espn.go.com/action/news/story?id=3850134

And as for moving winter X from Aspen in the coming years: if they signed a contract to extend winter X through 2012, and it's been there consistently since 2002 (note: that's a decade), I really see no precedent for them to move it anywhere.
Not saying it can't happen, and I'm not saying I don't want to see it switched up. I'm just saying that given the history of the past 10 years (including 3 different contract extensions to keep it in Aspen), I really don't think it will happen.
I could be wrong though. Fingers crossed?

I got an inside scoop as to what the planners of x are thinking. As of now it looks like ski sundown CT will be the next mountain to host winter x

PC makes a lot of sense. Would be so fun.

And to the guy that said Mammoth is too far away from stuff, it's just about as secluded as Aspen.

It's staying in Aspen alright? Everything fits perfectly at the bottom of buttermilk and it close to the city. It makes so much sense to keep it their and it is going to stay in Aspen.

^I agree, even though trembs park has improvde this year, Aspen is still a better place... more people, and Tremblant would never want that... too much work for the mountain... they dont even want to open the hill even if there is TONNSSS of snow left

Great points. I feel Tahoe would be a great contender because it has a lot bigger market in Reno and San Fran. Really both would be cool though.

i know this is a old thread buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut tremblant is a fucking joke. I bet they'd make everyone pay 600324892048239048 dollars to watch for 2 minutes (With a 2% tremblant tax)

no you are wrong its gonna be on aspen again also sammy carlson will win the slopestyle and schlopy the big air,,,,,,rolland superpipe

Yes i agree. i have a feeling it is going they will extend their contract with aspen. like the post above me said the snowcross is also something to think about, aspen has a course set up for the slednecks to throw down on. not to mention i am moving to colorado and really stoked that i will get to see x games in person even though it is an over hyped event with no focus on style but what evs.
