Big Air[/b]

The Big Air jump is an 80-foot step-up jump, built specifically with triple corks in mind. The jump has been moved back to the skier's right of the SuperPipe, near the bottom of the Slopestyle course."

Slopestyle[/b]

Perhaps the most exciting addition to the Winter X courses for 2012 is man-made light. For the first time in WX history, the men's Slopestyle events will be held in the evening, under the lights; 330,000 Watts of power will light the way for the best jumpers and jibbers around. The Slopestyle course is more jump-heavy than in years past, with four jumps (referred to as the "Financial District") and just two jib sections. Riders greet the first jib section, which features a 25-foot-tall Red Bull wallride, straight out of the gate. In the second jib section they will jib a bright-blue Jeep on their way to the four-jump Financial District, which culminates with the 80-foot Money Booter.

only 2 jibs??? that kinda sucks i like it when its well balanced out..

also a 80 ft kicker as last jump of the slopestyle seems pretty sick.

im going there this year, hopefully its sick

WTF!

crowd wants to see jumps. Most of us want more of both, but rails especially. The area where they have the slopestyle is so bloody short, something has to give, and in this case it is rails (again)

Looks like the closeout/wallride was stolen for 7springs.

And the only reason they keep the jibs is for advertising apparently.

Probably a stupid question but is the snowboard street course only going to have a snowboard jam? Or will there be a skiing one too?

Im definatly excited for those four big jumps. we are bound to see four dubs. anyone have the riderlist???

Well the OP was a copy-paste from the ESPN article, so unless they made a typo, he's right. However, the big air jump is a step, and if they said they have triples in mind, they're probably going to make it the poppiest jump ever. Just a lot of air time..

word. X would never do that though, people going huge on jumps is more exciting to most people than tech or style on rails. OH well. Course looks dope anyways.

"The Money Booter to paradise. The last jump of the Slopestyle course is

80 feet to the sweet spot and will likely feature some of Winter X's

biggest tricks."

Okay, maybe I was wrong. 80 feet to the sweet spot means the jump is less than 80 feet, right?

Yah, the rails are a lot more tech this year, as apposed to the stock dfd and down rails we see in slope courses. This is really going to push the athletes, anyone can hit a dfd, but that closeout-walride is tech as fuck.

yeah they measure it to the knuckle but whatever. You can take almost any jump a lot bigger than what it's measured to at the knuckle.. the big air jump is going to be gigantic

meh, not really feeling the course this year. It's pretty creative, but more rails and jibs would be dope. Jumps will be sick though.

this just popped up on Facebook:

Been dreaming about seeing 4 jumps in a row for 3 or 4 years now, dubs in all directions would be amazing. Was stoked last year with the option for 4 but only Hatveit used it if I recall correctly.. It would be nice to have more rails thrown in and an overall longer course but this way I think we'll see the most crazy shit because there is a lower chance of athletes falling before they get to the jumps. So stoked

Don't get me wrong I love rails but I'd rather watch people go absolutely nuts on huge jumps during the biggest comp of the year

Visibility is so much better on a well-lit course. When you have it during the day you run the risk of some competitors having their runs in broad daylight, and others having to deal with flat-light. That's why Bobby crashed last year. It's just eliminating that factor, and in my opinion that will make the contest a lot better.

"Feature 3 is a 55-foot long "Vader" jump, feature 4 is a 60-foot jump, feature 5 is a 65-foot jump and feature 6 is 70-foot jump. Note: Course renderings are conceptual and are not to scale. Design, size, shape and variety may change onsite."

yeah that's true that visibility will be much more consistent. i just would hate to ski a course made icier by night time

Very true. They could hold it earlier during the day, but X Games is all about getting views, and the prime viewing time is later.

that's another solid point haha. come to think of it, i love that it will be at night and get more exposure, plus it makes it 500% more likely ill catch it on tv

Its usually on tsn or tsn2, but 2 is only on in HD. Maybe just find a buddy with digital cable and camp out?

they explicitly said that the big air was designed with triple's in mind. So why isn't russ, mcrae, or frigdorf in big air? They're the only ones to have ever landed trips in competition. Yeah bobby and sammy can do them, schlopy has tried them, and I bet kenworthy could pull one out of his ass, but none of them have ever done them outside of a shoot. Also the JOI jump was another 20ft longer knuckle to knuckle. Actually the only person to do a triple on a jump sub 100ft is Dane Tudor...so why isn't he invited?

I just wish X would get their shit together on consistency, they have made it clear that they would like to be included in olympic qualification for athletes, but how the hell will they do it if they just invite who has put on a good show in the past and not who is actually throwing shit down.
