Winona/La Crosse

So I was supposed to go to school in Duluth, but plans changed and I am now down in Winona. I will probably be spending most of my time in the winter at either Coffee mill or la crosse hills, but are there any newschoolers down there going to school?

I would love to go up to school there considering i was just in Duluth and loved the city, but i cant change now. I know the main skiing is up there or at hyland, so I am planning to make trips at times up there, but is the parks at those places at least decent?

my friend snowboards and goes to winona, he says don't even waste your time and money checking them out, they are absolute garbage

Please do not go to Coffee Mill, 2 lifts and like 8 runs, its terrible. Mt. La Crosse is actually okay, worth riding occasionally, but I would recommend Welch Village (actually pretty good, about an hour and a half from Winona). If you want to come all the way to the cities though, more power to you.

I mostly say Welch just because its way closer to Winona than the metro. But if you're willing to drive, then Afton all the way.

you guys think thats bad...im stuck at Mount Kato...i went last year, and an EMPLOYEE told me it was a snowboard park and there isnt anything for a skier to do...

mt. la crosse is nothing to get excited about. very few runs, shitty rails, no jumps. but i know a couple kids that ride there occasionally and they still manage to have fun!

wow a lot of hate towards the Mill. thats where i learned to ski and yea its pretty beat down and a hilarious terrain park and probably not worth the money if you dont have a season pass hook up. id say mt lacrosse is better

thank you guys, any information helps! But I went to the summit board shop rail jam on the 20th, and drove by afton alps, and that is not too terrible of a drive for me, it is very due-able, I care most about having rails and jumps to hit, and cool kids to ski with since i am 100% new to the area. Also was the troll passes in reference to me or someone else cause I would love to if that was to me haha!

i actually live in La Crosse. Mt Lax sucks. def wouldnt buy a season pass there since their main thing is racing. I usually just bite the bullet and head to either cascade or tyrol. Devils head i think it it... pretty close to cascade and they have tons of rails.
