Hey I agree with everyone about BryanGallant. He would get his clock cleaned by anyone in a big air contest. my sister can do a better switch 180 safety than he can. you're one of those kids who says he can do a switch 7 with a grab, but only wishes he could do a stylish switch 180 with a grab. i wasnt saying i could do a switch 5 and switch 7 grab or a switch rodeo .. i was just saying i think those are the tricks that will win some local comps thats all.. id hope to learn those this year i got the switch 3 grabs down im trying to get my tricks back from after being gone a year from the game with an acl tear

back to the question at hand, i think it will be cork 9's or switch dspins this year, anything 540, even though it is the current trend, will not win comps when last year smooth switch 7s were winning comps ...the switch d could be this years biggest trick unless it doesn't have much style to it ..i've only seen the pic of jon olson in freeze i need to see it in action

 
lets see to win an x games gold maybe a switch dspin with crazy style but for a local comp, gosh, i'd hafta say, switch cork 5, nice and clean. or a switch flat 5.

I took 2nd with a 360 safety. Everyone was throwing 360's but i went bigger then everyone an had the most style. that shows you that it doesnt matter how techinacal the trick is, its the style that matters

Most local comps won't allow inverts,

and most local comps have stupid judges that would score an ugly stomped 9 more than a clean Switch 5,

Its all about reading what the judges are going for really

life jackets got it down. read what the judges want. if they are scoring igh for hucks, then spin your ass off. if they are goin for style, then tweak out a 5.

yeah, comps and inverts should go hand in hand. They should allow inverts at all comps, no matter what. It will most likley end up with injuries tho, with a huge crowd, some kid is going to try something out of this skill level and get hurt. I dont know about you but everytime I hit a table, the pipe, or rails my adrenieline is pumping like a bitch. i comp only pumps me up more

 
I'm shocked and amazed by the number of 'sponsered' riders on this forum. Everybody says that Bryan guuy blows, yet in his profile it says he has a few sponsers. I'm thinking 99% of the sponsered skiiers here are full o' poop OR these guys count getting a 2% discount being sponsered OR they 'polised some rocket' to get a deal OR its just way too easy to get a deal. whats the score with the excessive sponsorship??

further more, most local comps won''t have inverts, because they have to be covered by insurance companies, and most local comps cant afford it....

Judging for newschool is so incridebly (sp) fucked up, it's almost always disputed (sp)

Orage big airs are cool because you can invert

Judging can really take the fun and sprite out of the sport,

Un-natural tricks and reverts, and allsorts of other stuff, that most judges can't even comprehend are thrown in the mix, it's too hard to judge most of the time,

the big question is how to score it?

what would a 720-genie score?

even though its fucken crazy and takes mad skill to throw down, do you think judges would give that a better score than a Switch rodeo 7?

no to likely....

and as for switch tricks, the majority of them are far easier to throw, than reg tricks,... the only down fall to them is there blind, and fell really fucked up when your approching a kicker at 60 km an hour,

because it's alot easier to set a big rotation switch,

Nicely said buddy, and its so true. The problem with judging is that the riders are progressing much faster than most judges can handle. And its gonna be a while before the whole un-natural thing gets worked out. A buddy of mine spins counter clockwise for spins up to a seven, and then clockwise for anythign over. How is someone suppose to judge that? How does a judge know what is harder for him to do? If we want good judging then most of the judging should be done by riders, they are the ones who know whast going on.

 
lol, last year my friend was always angry that they wont allow inverts in contests. so he pulled a massive switch backflip and got kicked out. It was awesome.

yeah people are dumb my friend did a backflip then we convinced the judges it was off axis and he didnt get dq or his pass ripped.. which is gay b/c you signa waiver anyways to enter a comp so you should be able to throw inverts

Some competitions are pretty leanient(sp?) when it comes to inverts, they wont allow straight backs or fronts. But when it comes to rodeos and mistys as long as your feet aernt directly over your head than they usualy dont mind.

 
it doesnt really matter to me cuz I can't do inverts yet :) if they allow them, i have no chance

A switch 720 is a great all around hit, and this is what got jf cusson a gold in the xgames. Put a grab on it, but if u really wanna win, there is a gay ass saying that works, 'spin to win'
