Thank god, because for me, although I can really respect the work put into the first, I wasnt too stoked on the winners~
 
KSDesign had soo many good ones, but that one especially would need a lot of time because of the picture and all the writing. would be nice if that quote was used at some point on a tee
 
There were some wayyy sicker ones than the last two in my opinion. Don't get me wrong they are nice.. but ones with skiers taking off switch and shit were soo ill.

First off, thanks to NS for giving us the opportunity for our creative outlet. Second, congratulations to the winners.

A few gripes about the contest though:

- rule 1, "The design can be up to two colors..." Hmmm, 1st and 2nd place are more than two colors.

- rule 1, "...and as intricate as you'd like." But Mousseau says, "There were a few other ones we liked but couldn't do as they were too complex..." being in the design industry, i know for a fact any of the designs can be printed. Ironic that NS picked the "boots" design which is very complex to print because it's 3 colors, oversized on both sides and it wraps around the body...that would take 6 large screens to print the entire design. What a contradiction! I could have easily provided artwork for printing for any of my work.

- rule 7, "Winner will be decided by NS staff and you guys!" Really? Last I remember I didn't get to vote. Did anyone else? There should be a legitimate vote don't you think? If not, then ksdesigns should have won. I wasn't a big fan of any of ks' work, but by popular vote and comments he should have placed at least.

I've got more but it's not worth it. Big tip NS, if you're going to offer a contest, at the minimum be accountable to your own rules. This type of behavior really discredits this so-called forum. Another big tip, stick with moderating.

i agree with dex653 ^...and i didnt think newschoolers could print something as complicated as the boot one design

To me it doesn't sound like you are very thankful for the contest, rather it just seems that you're pissed off about it. but how can I really know?

Also, could there be factors other than the size and number of silk screens, which might complicate things? for example, ksdesign's (no hate intended, sick design) requires the use of enough ink to cover close to the entire area of a shirt. might that be tricky?

Finaly, all the complaining about judging etc. is probably making NS staff members have 2nd thoughts about giving us this contest or any in the future.

Read this. I didn't enter any designs myself but it does not seem fair to pick a winner that blatantly broke the most simple rule of the contest, "The design can be up to two colors." I would be very upset if I had submitted an inferior design because I had to break it down into only two colors, only to see one of the winners use three colors in there mediocre design.
 
naaaaa... The staff at NS is always trying to find ways to improve. I believe they are taking these comments to heart.

Expect more contests in the future, would be my prediction.
 
Contests in the future may sound like a great thing, but looking back on this contest should I honestly be looking forward to the next disappointment?

There were some really great ideas that were put into t-shirt ideas that were completely overlooked. As Dex mentioned above, the rules were completely overlooked by a moderator. I say we scratch the winners and put this to a real vote. Shit, if we as a NS 'community' are going to be shelling out our money for a shirt we should have some opinion on which shirts we want.

And mods, if you want to delete this post like you did to my last and drop my karma down, it can't get much lower than 0.

i think the contest is awesome and your doing an unbelievable job with the NS store, but i agree with the people posting above that we should have had a NS-wide vote on this or something because i have about 10 other shirts that i would've rather liked to have bought no offense to the winners in any way but im still gladly buying any shirt that says NS on it and i cant wait to see whats coming out next with teh other designs
 
seriously? have you read any of the other threads at all? so you're saying that you wouldn't respond to someones derogatory comments about you and your character when they don't even know you?
 
not really a fan of tshirts with stuff printed all over the back.

and yeah not hating, but it would have been nice to have compiled all of the entries into one page and been able to vote on our top 3 or something. maybe next time...

If you would have read the rest of the thread, you would have noticed someone already asked this question. To make everyone happy, the "official" winner of the contest is the "dino" and there are no 1st, 2nd or 3rd, just three winners. In other words, instead of just picking one design we decided to use three, which I thought people would be stoked on.

I don't really get what you are saying here? Since you are in the design industry I'm sure you understand how expensive it is to print a complex shirt like the boots. I did not mean we couldn't produce them, but it wouldn't be logical for us to make five different complex and expensive shirts. We want to have something for everyone, whether it be a different style or a different price. Please explain how I am contradicting myself.

Who says you need to have a "vote" to get members opinion? Do you not think we read everyones comments and took those into consideration? There is more to producing a tee shirt than just what people think, because you can look at a design and go "Yeah that's a sick tee shirt" but how many people will actually buy it? How much will it cost to produce? Is it just a select few who like it? There are a ton of variables to look at.

I'm glad you have more, but you are right in the fact that it's not worth your time. I went out of my way to do something that I thought the members would enjoy, but after reading a lot of the feedback, it seems like a few of you would have been happier if the contest never happened in the first place. Those few who believe that need to get off of their high horse and not ruin the chances of there being many more contests in the future.

So-called forums? Stick to moderating? You really have no idea what the staff at NS does to keep you guys happy, so if you cannot appreciate the simple effort we put in then maybe you should just go somewhere else.

 
Im really bummed on some of these choices. The dino and first one are sick but the rasta stuff is so over played. And where is the voting? I was looking forward to being able to chose and vote for the shirts that i like.

You wouldn't get banned for stating your opinion, as feedback is always welcome, but I do find it cowardice to create another account to say what you feel.
