yeah any game in the past 5 years is good with XP. well except for one game, black and white. that never worked for mine.

I cant get anything to work with my XP, and i mean nothing, Max Payne, The sims, Sim City, Homeworld, Red Alert, and Ultima Online.

could be lots of things....your install could be corrupt...or you could have a ghetto video card that wont support the games...could need things like the newest DirectX drivers etc.... XP does work for just about everything (unless you are still running one of the original beta releases...that ones had lots of issues

black and white has a patch easily downloaded, and you can format you old games to play on XP, its a microsoft app

Thewave is right about reformatting, but seriously, the Windows Updates are problematic. They add more and more useless things to Windows, and cause it to run slower. Although, they do provide protection from outside connections and bugs...So its a trade-off. Slower computer with no protection...For me, IE used to open in 1 second, now it takes about 10 with the Windows Updates.

yep get a mac. OS X never crashes, has most (with some exceptions) of the sickest games, and are super reliable. my mom uses a windows machine and u can never tell what went wrong so it stays fucked forever. cant watch dvds on it anymore so its useless now

At first, AK winter is dark. Theres lots of pow. Then it brightens up some. Theres lots of pow. Then it gets real bright and the resort stays open through may. Pow may fall through mid-may. Then bline happens. Then you wouldn't rather be anywhere else in the world
 
run windows update, that might fix some stuff.

But mostly it's probably your hardware that's the problem, if your machine is old then nothing will run on it. Get a new one.

I have a mac, it works great... but if you want a PC, I'd say build your own or get an Alienware (I have one that's 3 years old and still plays new games like Doom 3 amazingly well, they know how to build computers).

I can run any of these games you listed just fine on Windows XP. Maybe you're having a problem with your video card.

I'm going to buy a new computer, and am wondering if downgrading to 2000 is a better option.

I want as high of performance as possible really.

XP seems to have alot of useless stuff from what I've seen on other people's computers.

ok, first run the bios, then format the boot record and the kernal, and then throw it out the window, and buy a mac, all should be well after that

you guys are retards, windows only runs what you tell it. If you look at all the processes 'running' how many of them actually are using system resources? probably like 2, and they're only using 5% or something. Don't hate on xp. If you have a problem buy a mac and have fun paying for all you programs.

funny, its so hard to use that i actually learned OSX for mac, and still dont get most of windows, the cases are made to look cool and 'futuristic' but that isnt the only sell point, the fact that theyre practically indestructable, and they dont crash

and as for the key command thing, the key commands on OSX are easier, instead of like 3 buttons for every command, theres a designated command button for using in combo with onther keys

youre right, it is pref, but dont criticise mac if you havent used em
