what up NS, so i can get windows 7 for $7 thru my school, anyone know if ill get like a "half version" aka since its so cheap, it isnt a full version? i was thinking of snagging a copy and selling it on ebay or something for 80 or so bucks. that way i make some duckets, cause who doesn't need money as a college kid, and someone will get it for cheaper than in stores.

basically i dont want to go to jail or some shit for selling a student copy, and making money on it or something.

lets hear any and all opinions on this.

i'd take it and install it, i don't think it'll be a half version, that would be useless for a college student to buy. most colleges have contracts and can sell things like windows operating systems and microsoft office for very cheap. i'll get my copy of 7 soon enough, but i don't know if you should be selling it. its your call though.

haha, well my roomate just bought it, all over the disc it says "not for resale", i wanna sell it but could i get in a ton of trouble fro doing this?

its probably just home premium. i dont think half versions exist. personally i think it would work, but you might get in shit for selling it.

Most colleges have huge contracts with Mac and Microsoft so you can get there programs mad cheap. For example at my college windows 7 (whenever they get it) will be 5 bucks. Its the full copy as well, its just licensed to the univeristy. I wouldnt sell it...

it wont be the best version, most likely home premium or something basic like that. if youre using vista ultimate or something, youll be downgrading by upgrading.

it the ;premium or ultimate edition, i dont need it ive got a mac. Im not gonna try and sell it, dont wanna get in trouble for a few bucks.

half versions may exist. i got a free copy because i recently bought a new computer just before 7 came out so they sent me a free upgrade from vista. It is only an upgrade from vista disc, so i don't think it will work for a clean install from another operating system. don't know for sure, but 7 seems pretty nice. some things i don't like but it runs very well.

I also got a free upgrade copy and it will indeed do a clean install, it gives you the option when you load it up. The upgrade is the same as the clean install anyway it just saves all your files.

yes it can do a clean install, as long as you already have vista installed. that's how i interpreted it. but i dunno if you can install clean from no operating system. ??

I got mine for free through my college, we also got it like two months before it was released. hell yeah for tech schools.

Microsoft gave me a free version of 64-bit Windows 7 Professional. It also says "not for resale" on the package.
