window blinds?

i have seen a few kids with completely different layouts and colors for their taskbars and pull up menus on windows. anyone know anything about window blinds? i hear this is what you can use to alter your desktop format and style?

why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice?

They aren't called blinds, they are themes.

You can change this if you right click on yoru desktop, click properties and click on the Appearence tab.

windows blinds is a HUGE resource hog. I've visibly noticed my computer being slower using windows blinds. don't get it.

You heard it straight from the man kids, get Firefox.

Screw this I'm going skiing

if you want to use a third party app, don't use windowsblinds, use stylexp. the best way to do it in xp is to just download themes and then use windows to load them like the first guy said.

where/how to i download and use these?

actually all you need is a modified uxtheme.dll file. the hacked .dll file and stylexp (which sucks) both use msstyles, usually known as visual styles. windowblinds has a completely seperate skinning engine. visual styles and windowblinds themes each have their advantages, but i prefer visual styles because it uses existing code in windows xp and it doesn't use as many resources as windowblinds.

here's where you can get a uxtheme.dll patcher to allow you to use visual styles: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=308905

information on how to use visual styles with a modified uxtheme.dll: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=339820
