NEW AT Windham is the “Big Air Bag” (www.bigairbag.com), scheduled to

arrive the weekend of Dec. 13-14. Designed as a training tool for

skiers and riders, the huge air-filled pad cushions the landing for

aerial maneuvers. The Big Air Bag is manufactured by BigAirBag B.V. in

the Netherlands, and Windham Mountain will be the sole distributor of

the product in the United States.

Fifty-six feet long and 33

feet wide, the inflatable compression bag will be situated near the

halfpipe, where skiers and riders will have easy access and visibility,

Oldknow said. The black and yellow double-compartmentalized bag is made

of a heavy gauge nylon and refills every 10 seconds to allow for a

constant flow of traffic, she said.

yes, but if they want to pay for it, might as well get some use out of it. I'm going to mark this on my calender.

I doubt it will be free to use. How else are they going to pay for it? Especially with the housing market in the shitter.

You're right, it probably won't be free to use. But as far as it being a waste of money I'm not sure about that. Apparently they're going to be the sole distributor of Big Air Bags in the US, I would imagine that would come with some sort of perks. I'd be interested in seeing what sort of agreement they actually have. I'd also be interested in trying it out haha, may have to make a trip at some point this winter.

is this gunna be there for just the weekend or the whole winter? looks like im making a trip either way, i dont think its a waste because i know im for sure gunna go and pay up to a hundred if i can session it for a whole day

i think they are going to keep it because they are going to be the sole distributer for the US

The Big Air Bag is currently being

installed next to the D lift, and we are optimistic that it will be

open to the public this weekend. We ask for patience as we work out a

routine for this exciting new activity at Windham Mountain.

Daily “air fare” for the bag is $25. Air

Fare for the entire season is $100. Existing pass holders at Windham

Mountain (this does not include discount ticket products like The

Gravity Card, Triple Play Card or Winter Card) can get season-long Air

Fare for just $50.

All

guests wishing to use the Big Air Bag will need to listen to a brief

safety message and sign an acknowledgement, in The Yurt above the half

pipe. This weekend, those sessions will happen at 10am and 1pm.

Additional sessions may be added if there is demand. This weekend, the

safety message will be given verbally by a staff member; in the future,

the safety message will be a video.

Daily Air Fare tickets can be purchased in

the Yurt with cash only, at the time of the safety sessions. Daily

tickets can also be purchased at any time at the Special Tickets desk

in the base lodge, along with season-long Air Fare.

In this first weekend, the Big Air Bag will not be open at night. In the future, we expect that it will be.

i haven't had a chance to hit it yet since iv been working every day im on the hill, but the thing looks sick, and people who have been on it all have good reviews. hopefully il be able to hit it up during the week.

me and a bunch of my friend went up their this weekednd for a little ski trip. The bag had some issues but then it fired up. No inverted tricks allowed fue to insurance but they were fine with corks- you could launch anything and it did not hurt- the only thing was whiplash aftert a while- as well as tuck when you land because my arm went the wrong direction on a bailed cork7 other than that -extremely fun
