I really want to keep progressing over the summer and keep skiing and I've heard about windells summer camp at mt.hood but i have a few questions.

1. How would the camp be for someone whos not great in the terrain park?

2. How is the lodging for sleeping?

3. Are there any other camps i should look at?

if theres any others ill add them.

Unless hood has a crazy snowy spring theres a good chance windells and other camps wont be able to open this summer

I'm not speaking from experience with summer camps, but even if you're not the best you'll progress even more... Some of the best riders in the world will be there and you'll have allot of ppl to learn from. Hence why i ski with guys who are a lil older and better than moi.

My first week of skiing in the park was at Windells. They have groups for all ability levels. It definitely gave me a jump start to my progression

1. How would the camp be for someone whos not great in the terrain park?

- The majority of campers are intermediate park riders. They have groups of about 6 kids to 1 coach for all ability levels.

2. How is the lodging for sleeping?

- The lodging is similar to most normal summer camps. Windells campus is a former mountain style motel that has been retrofitted into 15 or so different rooms. You will likely be in a place that has a living room, kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms with bunk beds. Each "cabin" holds no more than 10 campers (with the exception of the roadhouse that has more rooms).

3. Are there any other camps i should look at?

- There are others. On mt hood there is also MHSSC. In Canada there is Momentum and COC. Each camp has there own benefits but in general you will likely get the same experience from any of them.

if theres any others ill add them.

At the end of the day you will get out of the camp what you put into it. If you treat it more as a summer camp and don't focus on progression and fun you won't learn as much. However if you listen to the coaches, work with them, stay on hill as long as possible everyday and get involved with the activities you will learn a lot. For example: Several years ago ABM came to windells and could barely do cork 7s. He went hard everyday and look where he is now.

P.S. Session 3 is the Saga Outerwear session.

1. Windells ranges for all levels

2. The lodging and sleeping is... well... it isn't luxurious lets just say that, about 5-8 per cabin with 1 bathroom can get pretty rough.

3. I have been to windells twice and am going to try out momentum this year.

Thanks, Whats the difference between the different sessions?

How early do you have to register for summer camps? I really want to go to Momentum as my senior trip, but dont when I'll have all the money for it, and am wondering how early i should try and get that money by

Weather, snow level, visiting pros, amount of people on the mountain.

Sessions 1 & 2 the weather can be a little iffy with chances of cloudy snowy weather. But these sessions also have the most space open for skiing.

sessions 3,4&5 the weather will more than likely be classic sunny and sick mt hood. However there will be more people on the mountain which means lift/rope tow lines will be a little longer.

Sessions 6,7&8 weather is great but the snow levels diminish. You likely won't be able to ride all the way to parking lot and lower lift.

It should be noted that despite the snow level the park will have the same amount of features every session. If you want examples just look at windells vimeo channel. They have edits from every session.

Haha gotta remeber that courtesy flush

If your on the east coast like me and not hyped on money (also like me) look up Liberty mountain Snowflex centre in Virginia. I spent a week there at their camp last year and it was a really fun time. The lodging is collage dorms so not bad and they have a nice skatepark to. It's not going to be as good as windells but a couple thousand cheaper.

1. It would be fine, if anything it is for you. It will help you to progress and get better.

2. Lodging is fine if you dont sleep on king size tempurpedic with 30 pillows, the bunk beds arent that bad. I would recommend bringing a good pillow tho.

3. Momentum and Camp of Champions are probably good other options, you might learn more there.

However, I went to Windells Session 2 last year, which was the Newschoolers session. I dont think at the other camps you will have as much fun as you would at windells. The vibe there is really good, there are contests and games all the time, pros everywhere, and overall a really good time. I didnt learn too much, maybe just my coach, but i would recommend going to Windells.

Tips if you are going to Windells: Bring a Boot Dryer (my boots got really wet), have a good pair of gloves that wont get wet very easily, Bring a Good Pillow, Do as many contests and games as you can you wont regret, focus not only on progressing but also having fun, leave extra room in your suitcase for the way home (got a lot of t-shirts and hoodies for free from contests), put money in your camper account, the grilled cheeses are really good there and its very useful, and finally just have a good time.

Damn long post

I hear mhssc is really good on coaching and has a chill vib. No I'm better then you. It's all just people trying to get better and have fun. Not as nice facility's but it's a grand cheaper.

Windells is great.I went for session 3 and only the 1st day was bad. I didn't hear any I'm better than you in the park, but in BOB on the trampolines there was some. Other than that its pretty chill and there's a lot of progression if you get a group of like minded and with roughly the same skill level.

MHSSC is smaller and i would recommend it for someone who is a beginner at park because you get more 1 on 1 coaching.

This the first time I've ever seen someone steal my icon lol, please don't use my icon homie.

I know that we're gonna do everything we can to be open as long as possible and I expect the others will probably do the same. It's more like Timberline will be done a month early. Completely depends on how warm spring and summer are at this point.

Check out MHSSC if you haven't yet. We're having a free session drawing right now actually. More info on our site. Link in my sig.
