i work at wilmot as a ski instructor, so i got the inside scoop.

NEW FOR THIS YEAT

-8 rails and boxes

-they will build nice tabels once there is enough snow

-they are also talking about a 'wall'. What that means i have no idea.

-unforunatly their snowditch won't be move.

thats crap ass I think. I worked there as a ski and snowboard instructor the last two season's they always say there going to build a terrian park. And they never do I remember they had one good jump for a couple days then it was gone. they did try though by putting the rail out half way through the season but still. The fat ass owner won't do it I bet if she does then good for wilmot I guess. I could careless though I'm moving TO CO in 7 days to work at vail. have fun at crapmont all winter long.

Never beleve the fat bitch owner. its all hype. That place could be ten times better with its location and the amount of people they get there just takes a little effort on there part.

 
right??? they have the sweetest situation, and they refuse to capatolize on it. whatev. and grand g is the bomb diggity compared to wilmot's park last year.

yes they do have one of the 'sweetest situation's' with there location. If you remeber they almost went bankurupty a couple years ago. I think last season was good cause they opened when they where going to and close the day they where going to close. but if you build it they will come is my theory on terrian parks. And yes GGR is the bomb diggity its always so much fun there. a couple times I went to work at wilmot got one look at the hill and turned around and went to GGR instead. so much better there. like I said its because of the fat owner she is so used to running the mountain the way it has been run when she should change her ways alittle bit. oh well Iam gone in 3 days who care's

 
That's all very funny. I had a lengthy discussion with them last spring about that wack ass hill. They said they wanted to be a 'family area' and had no interest in any terrain featues. They said terrain parks are only for 'niche' ski areas. Bottom line - Wilmot has always been a huge disappointment for any terrain features. Hell, they don't even TRY to do anything, so I certainly would NOT expect anything to change for this season. My $300 of Wilmot pass money went to Tyrol this season. The two hour drive out there for a way better hill is worth it.

 
when do they open? i know gg is getting some new rails like a c or a s and some new kinks

A decent park at Wilmot would be a dream come true. Being so close to my house (compared to the other hills) it would be nice to have that extra driving time for skiing. If it happens great, but I'm not getting my hopes up because we all know what will happen.

park update, i was talking to some people who live by wilmot and they said the rails were getting put up last week!!

 
Yeah, I suggest posting some pics first. The hill has a history of talking out their ass about stuff. No way, no how they'll do anything to make the place even (fun) skiable.

Well, well. I see. The famous 'family area' did something. I'm almost impressed. The Tyrol pass is working out much better....and still worth the drive.

 
yeah right now tyrol is way better. i was up there 2 weeks ago and they had a 40' table and a bunch of rails. Wilmot is only 20 minutes from my house though.

 
why are the rails on broadway?? is that where the park is going to be?? if trent or someone will let me know, that would be killer.

you are friends with trent? I work there and I am going to work the park. It's going to be on the run serviced by chair 6.

 
i talked to some of the grooming crew on sunday the 21st and they said that they have a battle ship rail, a a frame rail, a flat rail, and they are trying to get a kink. Also they have the box thats out right now and the mailbox from last year.

 
Tyrol doesn't have a 40 foot table up.

thats awesome that they are trying atleast. wish they would have atleast made a better atempt at it the last 2 winters when I worked there. last season I just hated going there but I wanted to ski so I went. oh well VAIL is like 100 times better then Crapmont

 
their webpage says that their park will be truely open friday the 9th. they are putting up an a frame, a battleship and maybe some beginner rails plus what they have up now. maybe a small table and their stuntditch maybe open!

 
its a start atleast and a little bit of a effort. better then the last 2 years as I say that once again. keep us updated. the best day I ever had jumping at wilmot was the last day of the season last year ski patrol was spotting the landing for us it wasn't that big of jump but the landing was sweet.

 
Doesn't sound bad, have you (^) been more recently? I am trying to decide where to ski Friday night. I don't want to drive all the way to Alpine, Sunburst or Switz and last time I went GG it was pretty bad.

i was up there on martin luther king day and they have the same rails but both of their jumps have gotten bigger.

 
its not really better. the rails are a step up, but they are kinda short, and i am still wondering where you saw an a frame and a battleship, i can see one or the other, depending on how you look at the first one, but the second one looked liek a downkink to me. and the tables, there is one ok one, but they have a safty patrol on top of it, and the last 2 times i was there, it was closed and we had to poach the whole thing. so yeah. at least they are trying.

I was there Saturday night, it wasn't as bad as I expected. The snow report says the pipe is snowcovered but not groomed, is that a hint they might be grooming there pipe? I hope so!

was up there friday the 13th and they have a crappy hip and a new medium table next to the big one. makes for some nice transfers! they cut their stunt ditch!!

only if I was there. give me a week in a cat and some snow and it would be different. but its a start. who knows where I will be next winter. I think i could get a job grooming there easy after grooming this whole season at vail. but its a shit hole why would I want to work there.

I know I know. it would be cool and alot of fun. but vail or wilmot which one would you pick. I think I know everyones anwser already. but then I might find some stupied reason to stay in wisconsin and not move back out here which as of know why would I do that haha.

good point. and I would be hopefully making a difference or something like that. its all about the Chesse, shitty snow, 250 vertical feet, and a fat owner.

fun thing is I worked there for the last 2 season before moving out here in the ski and snowboard school. which was a fun time but the hill made me madd withthe shitty condionts so I didn't go that often and don was always a dick. Iam glad Iam not there this year having to buy those stupied sypder jacckets and pants. but all the people in the ski and snowboard school where cool alot of older people no one really that I could ride with.

oh ok. I always hung out with barb, Dan and beebe when Iwas there alot. I was there alot at night cause of school and at night on the weekends cause of work. I only made like 100 bucks there all season didn't teach much oh well I just wanted to ski.

 
I was just looking at some pictures of the park at wilmot on there website. all I saw was people standing around the jumps way to much like a bunch of gapers. and ther was always someone there with some orange shit over his jacket. Is that guy just there spotting the landing and raking the landing out or what? but all in all the jump wasn't that bad need some maintence but its a start for them. I did like how they had 3 take offs though that was a good idea. but no one was going huge atleast the snowboarders in the pictures weren't. one ski went big it looked like but all straight airs no spins or nothing.

 
the people with the orange vests on are members of ski school that work the park. they act as groomers and spotters. the comp today was awesome. some kid on the jungle concepts was throwing 1080s in the big air!
