Wilmot Mountain Update

Im going with Wosco on this one. I can't do anything but straight air the jump as it is now, and even then I can't always clear it. With a steeper transition you would need even more speed than with the step down.

I wasn't complaining I was just trying to say that you need a lot of speed for the jump. I also thinks evryone else likes the size of the big jump. In my perfect world the big jump would be a little smaller, both jumps would have a nice lip, and In an amazing world the jumps would be step ups. However, the park is great as it is, and I understand the difficulty involved in making these changes.

yeah im not tryin to bag on wilmot or anythign cuz it my home mountain,,but the jumps need work pretty badly. the landing is narrow and no matter how fast u drop in u just cant possibly clear the big jump unless ur on race skis. which is gay cuz it attracts gapers. basically all wilmot has is a cuopl of rails which i like. cuz the wilmot rails are fun...but seriously wilmot at this point is ok..not great or even good

(maybe make lips higher and landings abuota fourth shorter and landing wider? but just suggestion)

i disagree i think this year wilmot is killinn it as far as rails, so fun. but with jumps i know its pretty much impossible but a step up would be awsome if a mircle happend, but for the jumps if they were a little shorter and the lips shoot you up a little higher that would make the park amazing, idk if this is a possibillty to get enough speed or work, ethier just leave the distances the same and fix the lips but at the top of the run add a like drop in ramp made of like snow, idk how much people are coming up short but if its not a lot that may work. but wilmot parks awsome keep it up

hopefully i will get a chance to do a rebuild on the big jump. making it wide is going to be hard cause the whale tail rail being next to it and the splater boards are on the other side have to be able to get a groomer in bettween all that shit. the jump is also farther down the hill then we had planned but it works. There was a little drop in early in the season then a roller to pump to get speed. i have been wanting to build another ramp (hotstart) up top which there should be more then enough snow once they get done blowing the park tonight and part of tommorrw. it is really narrow at the top of that run.
tonight sucked i drove 40 mins out to wilmot like I always do. to find out that they where making snow on hideway so there was nothing i could do. everypark seemed to have some sort of snowmaking going on.

My last effort at the jump:

If you move the kicker in closer 5-10 feet you can have a bigger kicker with more pop. They got 30 footers at keystone that are like twice the size of 30 footers anywhere over here because they build it like that. If the jump gives you more height you don't really need as much distance.

ya well

if its built the right way. technaly the landing is suppesed to be 2 to 3 times longer then the deck of the jump. which that is why you can have a good 30 footer but can aslo take that same 30 footer atleast 40 feet or farther with out landing flat.

oh i do plan on making it higher that would be the only way to make that POS any better. Rumor as it have to build the big air jump for winter carnivel in a couple weeks which should be fun

thats a good question. the run to have a big air jump on would have to be steep like surpior, sundance, sidewinder. There is no way they would want to keep something up on one of those runs all year and take away a good ski run or a run that the stick chasers would want to use.
the jump last year on inspiration worked a little bit and didn't work. First off thats almost to good of a intermediate one to use and second the cross traffic from chair 7 gong to chair 5 is bad sometimes.
its all about taking baby steps the park is better this year then it has ever been. more rails then we know what to do with. if some of us had are way there would be terrian park stuff all over the mountain on every run. haha but thats a dream.

Ya dude thats true it needs a bigger run not near the park, and also i totally agree that the park is amazing this year, and having too many rails is NEVER a bad thing lol

I have a story to tell which involves pictures, but that will take a wee bit to do so at the time beeing I will make a few recommendations on the park.

The park was superb today except for a few features, and the slow snow.

The first the jump. The jump itself needs some work whcih has been discuseed however, I find the landing is the main problem. I went for a five off the small side, and I spin tot he left, but even in midair as I spotted my landing I could see I was going to land off to the side. Later, I underroated a misty and landed on my hip on the edge of the landing. The hip still pains me, and I feel that the size of the landing is unsafe. If you canno make the landing wider, I would recommend either moving the flat down box, because then the landing could be widened and there would still be room for a cat to get through. My other suggestion would be to, as much as I hate saying this, have only one jump, centered on the landing.

The other concerning feature is the flat down flat box off to the side of the park. The problem is that the last flat section is higher than the down portion and also wider than it. As I hit it for the first time today I was scissoring and when I got to the second kink, the right edge of my left ski hit the front of the flat section. This knocked my ski off, and resulted in a dented edge and bubble of petex. (This is what my later story will concern).

other than that everything was excellent, and if I were to be picky, I would say, mailbox and urban rails need larger lips, and the gnar bar also needs a lip.

However the last few things don't really matter.

i have been thinking about that only having one jump not a big and a small. the other major problem whicch i discovered tonight is the fucking ice in the park is really bad. if i went more then a couple inchs deep with my blade i was spiing on a sheet of ice. to make it worse there done make snow in the park for the season due to the pump house that feeds those snowmaking lines is broke and i belive there not gong to worry about fixing it tell this summer.
I think on thursday i might have time to do this stuff.
the "park manager" should have set that flat down flat box's up the right way. alot of that stuff is out of my hands. when i come in to work there is so much to fix snow wise i have no time or help to pull shit out and re set it. I can fix the gnar bar on tuesday night when iam there.

that doesn't mean the park will have to shut down early. there is still a ton of snow in the park. I doubt they would move any of the rails to another run.

yep demo is sunday. Winter Carneval is the weekend after this. Big Air on supieror and Rail Jam on Walters Folly (In between Broadway and Exihabation)
If you go to the demo.. make sure to try the LINE Afterbangs there so much fun, other skis i have tried already and liked are. Volkl Wall, Volkl Bridge, K2 Extreme, There was one from Elan that i really liked just can't think of the name.

the longest they would stay open would be march 29th which is basicly all of march and the last sunday in the month. if i where a betting man i would put my money on the last day being march 22nd which is still a very good season seeing that they opened a week earlyer then normal. only time will tell i guess

Great job on the park this year guys i learned alot of crap. :]

Only complant is Wheres the S-rail!

(I know its broken into 2 c's "Wishbone" or w/e but put it back :])

So whats going to happen this weekend with the rain and warm weather and meltage

Is the whole winter carnival thing happening?

Is wilmot still open even?

/ what happens if it rains during the events, (as it likely will), will they be cancelled?

I'm sorry if this sounds bitchy, I'm being quized on africa right now and I'm not really all here

hey iride when u gunna get that edit up. yea i would have to say wilmot had a super good setup this year ton of fun, i only had two problems with i though snowboarders hate skiers and the lips to the rails had a snowbarder trench the size of the grand canyon every time i went out there. all in all deff. steped up there A game this year!

i was out there tonight didn't work snow was to shitty to warm to take a groomer out. it looked pretty bad from what i could see.
winter carnival is postponed tell next weekend the 14th & 15th. if they make that far. only time will tell

seeing as

Lift service suspended until further notice

this is the first thing seen on Wilmots sight I'll guess not

it may not be over yet. lets all hope for the best but that was alot of rain we got. Not sure i would want to spend the money to make more snow this late.
so yes R.I.P. wilmot.

haha I like how everyone that is mourning it is sort of like dang that sucks, but oh well!! it was great this year, cant wait to see what you guys will cook up next year( i say you guys do a bear mountain thing and make the whole flippin place a park, even though i know that will never happen in a million years)
