Top stop the Hi Jacking of the Cascade thread I just made this one.

to anwser IRIDEWI POSTS

(I really hate to be hijacking the Cascade Thread, but in reference to

wilmot, could we get some rails with street style takeoffs this season?

like the down rails that were at the top of last years park)

Where you talking about the box top Rail and the double barrel Rail that was at the top of the park most of the season?

was it this one?

when i went to wilmot last year a couple times i thought they had a really good selection of stuff

however almost nothing was maintained so that kind of negated the positive of having a lot of things

but hopefully you get more of a park crew their this year squirrel

il be down to help maintain but im gona apply for a job at viking in chicago so if that doesn't work out i think i can help with park crew, but not sure yet

yes! haha thanks for making a new thread, now we can pool ideas about the parks this season. But in reference to the photo, that is one of the two rails that I was talking about. It was fun last season and a really smooth rail but it might be cool if some rails were set up street style, kind of like the huge down rail but more mellow? (kinda hard to explain I will try to find some photos). Im gonna be riding wilmot mostly on saturdays this season, and on a pretty regular basis, so if your gonna be there on a saturday, just message me sometime before then and il be down to help set up shit on a saturday.

kinda like this?

the way that the beginning of the rail is even before the take off, and then the street style takeoff sort of comes up onto the side of it, but after about 1-2 feet of the rail itself. Kinda hard to explain, not sure if you get what im saying, but a mellow down rail for learning spins onto would be dope. Also, you guys have sick boxes, especially the setup for that rail jam with the huge gap to flat and flat down box, and large down rail. If the setup was like that all season, it would be dope. The flatdown box that you had setup was perfect dimensions, angles, and everything! The only thing that I would reccomend fixing would be building bigger takeoffs onto some of the larger rails.

those are all great idea's we could easily put that rail like that. That rail in the picture was at vail I remember that one from when i worked there. was set up on a pretty good pitch in the park so it worked perfect.

Next question

Hip or quater pipe?

Better question: Will it be maintained?

If the park crew (hopefully I'll be on it lol) can maintain it, and we get to snow to make it double sided so hip is both ways, I'd suggest a combo like this but smaller cuz wisco/ill sucks on the border for reliable snow lol

No 1/4 pipe. Upkeep would be a bitch. I remember when I worked there and even with the pipe dragon they couldnt up keep and 1/2 or 1/4 pipe.

A hip would be really fun, especially if you could land on both sides.

I was thinking the same thing about a hip i think more people would use it. And a Qp would be hard to maintain. Maintenance on a hip seems like it would a lot easy. given we can get enough cat time. The guy who is going to be the park manger this season lives 8 mins from wilmot and will be out there alot so everything should be maintened pretty good.

Park Crews Job will be to Redo/Fix 2 features every day.

that i'm not sure. as far as pay goes. its still so new i'm sure they don't have all the deatails worked out one of the guys was still trying to talk to managment and have them aprove a budget for it.

I do know that you get a free pass. which all employees get.

Id imagine that you would get paid, I know when me and powdahchowda worked there teaching and being part of the 'park crew' we got paid.

so wilmot is finally getting a new cat? About time.....i love seeing the old tuckers cruise around...thats wilmots signature.

True that! I remember when I worked there and it always seemed that wilmot was a few years behind everyone else.

When i was at the MSAA Fall Seminar which is the Midwest Ski Area Association's. Everyone was asking what we had for snowmaking and grooming. Everyone laughed when we told them how old some of the machines where that we had. But yes should be sick with a new groomer. Hopeful I will be able to take that or use the Br 275 when ever we need it. Last winter was a bitch trying to get cat time cause they only had one good grooming machine.

Wilmot has some of if not they oldest snowmaking Lines (Pipes) in the country.

awesome dude sounds sick and dont forget the main park (where it normally is) is pretty much no jumps this year because theyre getting moved to sundance/or another steep run ;)

I still think there needs to be a jump on hideway where the normal park is kind of sucked last year not having one. atleast if i have my way there will be one.

ya there was two, and they took them out and changed some thigns around to get speed for the a frame nd other stuff.... but ya i guess they need like one but whats the point? theres no room and no speed. IF they still have a mini area for the tiny rails like they did last year above that green run i think they shuld put a small one there if possible

I like that plan...ALOT. It just came to mind a few minutes ago that another thing worth improving this year might be somehow keeping families and ski school kids from going on the takeoffs for the rails and jumps, etc...not sure if that is really possible but thought it might be a good idea...

ya that is a good plan and ians right there isnt much snow to make good take offs in the first place so we dont really need them caving them or ruining the lip lol

it doesnt need to look good as long as we get what ur doing lol. and btw if u have the time to deal with it it might be easier to make in google sketchup

Ive always thought that sundance would be sick for some jumps. We used to build little kickers their back in the day.

That would be a good idea if Wilmot wanted to have jumps. It seems like they are all for the rails but not the jumps. Like the last few years it seems to me that they have gotten more rails/boxes which is dope but have really let the jumps go. I feel that they should just improve on making the jumps better. By better I mean make them with a take off and a landing. last year (which was a bad year for jumps at wilmot) it seemed like there was no landing for the jumps.

I like the plan Concept, I hope Wilmot this year will be dope and I will be going there a few times at least. But Reed, I don't think that Sundance will have any jumps this year.

Does anyone know if Sunburst Passes are still good for 50% off lift ticket prices. That was a really nice promotion to have.

Upon further review I have switched my mind and agree with Reed. Wilmot should move the jump line (yeah line) to the run skiers left of Superior. That way there can be a multiple jump line close to ski patrol so if anyone does get injured ski patrol is right there. I'm thinking they could have a real nice sized line of about 3 to 4 jumps. They don't have to be big but don't make them small. A good size would be about 25-40 feet. I know I'm missing a bunch of stuff that I had thought of earlier but that is all for now.
