As in snowboarding was massive, and now skiing has taken over cause its insanely dope. Will waterskiing ever have the same effect on wakeboarding in terms of freestyle? I think not...

Waterskiing came well before wakeboarding. Even freestyle waterskiing came first. And wakeskiing wont be popular because i have wakeskied and wakeboarded and the rotatation and pop just doesnt work on wakeskiis.

I wakeski and wakeboard, and even though I ski snow I still prefer to wakeboard. Except probably in a cable park, I think wakeskis can really shine there. But behind the boat there is just something awkward about cutting into the wake on wakeskis vs a wakeboard.

My mom can do back to back 7s on a trick ski. Its basically like a switch 7 on skis.

waterskiing is such a broad topic, their is jump skiing, distance jump skiing, barefooting, barefoot trick, ski racing, trick skiing, wakeskiing, show skiing, sky skiing and slalom skiing. To say that wakeboarding is way bigger than waterskiing is false IMO. Wakeboarding is basically just another branch off of waterskiing just as the same as any of the others that I listed. In barefooting its without skis, trick skiing is with a trick ski, etc etc. So in my opinion waterskiing is way bigger than wakeboarding, you just dont realize it.

wakeboarding will always be more popular, and IMO i dont see wake skiing getting much bigger. slalom skiing is having more of a comeback with younger people because they find it as a way to take a break from wakeboarding, but still get an adrenaline filled ride with a workout too, compared to wakesurfing. theres just so much more comfort, media and interest in wakeboarding. its continuing to expand in technology, and the insane tricks the guys are throwing, just as in freestyle skiing. in comparison, wake skiing isnt really going anywhere, and from working with all watersports stuff, you can really see the complete lack of interest in wake skiing, compared to others like wakeboarding, surfing, even slalom skiing.
