Will Tom Wallisch compete in Winter X slopestyle this year?

Been seeing a lot of this kid lately, mostly on here, on YouTube, and in the last two Level 1 movies (just watched Turbo for the first time last night... SICK!). Will he compete in X Games slopestyle this year? I really hope so, because the kid is just unreal. So smooth, HUGE bag of tricks, so poised, never seems to bobble a landing, never drags a hand when landing switch, corks his spins like nobody's business, makes gnarly spins and switchups on rails look effortless... shit, I gotta go change my pants now.

But seriously, from the footage I've seen of him, he seems like the absolute best park skier out there right now (yes, even better than Sammy Carlson). I think he could very easily medal at X Games, which is why I want to see him compete. Plus, it's really fun to watch him ski cuz he's so damn good. What do you guys think?

Hey if guys have noticed you have to have good comp results to get invited. You can't just be a skier then get invited. It depends on your comp results. Also, as you can see tom has not done very well in any slopestyle events. He may have won a couple of rail jams lately but that doesn't mean anything.

Now henrick on the other hand does have a bigger chance of getting invited to x games

X Games is an invite only contest. I'm sure Tom would jump on the opportunity if he had it, but I'm pretty positive that an X invite is based around competition results. While he did take 2nd at Aspen Open last year, I doubt that he will be invited to X this year for one podium at a decent sized contest. Though if he was invited, I would be stoked as hell.

no its really not haha. its a factor but really the biggest thing is the panel who invite the athletes (different group for different sports), to make sure they know you well enough to be invited. its all bout knowing the right people.

x invites include competition results to qualify and a few judges invites based on whoever they want to invite. the judges invites are probably pretty political and based on sponsorships and such. also, i think 2nd at aspen/snowmass open is enough to get invited to x.

guy above me hit it spot on mostly competition results but then some get invites just because like andy mahre two years ago i think he barely does any competitions but got invited to X and i think it's possible but not super likely x games mostly all really established riders not young guns

I think the biggest reason you wont see Tom at the X-Games is because he doesnt have a big comp history. Like someone else mentioned X is the biggest of the big and while Tom has a sick history of film segments the last few years, he doesnt have a lot of big wins in comps otherwise.

To be honest, I havent seen Tom ski in person, so I am not sure of his ability in a contest. Yea, he can nail a lot of tricks and get them on film, but how consistant is he with those tricks?

Crazy tricks landed here and there make a good film segment, good tricks landed all the time makes a great contest skier.

That is a very good point. Hadn't really thought about that. But hell, he won the Boreal rail jam last week, so at least he's actually doing some contests...

Well Tom, better than anyone, would be the guy to be both an epic film skier as well as a competition skier. He got 2nd in Aspen Open, which shows you he is able to do it. Watch the Windells extra in Turbo, Tom doesn't fall, and he doesn't fuck up. He could session a jump for a few hours and every trick he does would be worthy of being a shot, if he get's invited I'd be super stoked, and I think he'd do really well.

tom will dominate. Also, thall and Henrik will be two in three in no particular order. Probly henrik then thall cuz henrik makes rails look so incredibly steezy

tammy wallgreens is def gonna win gold, silver will prob be taken by tad wallnuts, and bronze by tommy walmart.

I could be wrong, but the word on the street is that on the jump at hood he hit it 60+ times and didn't fall once. I think he is a really consistent.

tom wallisch could hit a feature for an hour, do something different every time, and never run out of tricks.
before i went to windells this summer, i wasn't sure how good he was. i mean his film stuff was legit, but could he do sick stuff all the time? the answer is yes. he is always having fun and makes everything steezy. i swear, i'm sure he knows more tricks than almost anyone out there, and he can land new stuff too. his consistency is amazing, and he makes stuff look better every time.
at windells we were all waiting to take a session photo, and we had to wait for the camera guy. so wallisch starts hiking of course. its just a tiny jump, actually the jump on to the rainbow rail. he did 6 filps in 6 attempts. front, back, switch front, left lincoln, right lincoln, and SWITCH LINCOLN. the switch lincoln was the first he had ever tried, and he stomped it. after seeing that, i think he could not only win, but dominate competitions. wallisch is the real deal

you all forgot about mr per kristian hunder ..

he will be the one taking it home next year, regardless what any of the other guys can throw down.

right/left 10, dub cork 12, perfect grabs, 450 on 270 pretzel out ..

his run will stay in minds like tanner´s sw 9 a few years ago.
