Will threre ever be a skiing game?

Does anyone else think that there should be a skiing game for game consoles like xbox one, ps4 xbox360 ect. I know there are apps like shredsauce and but I'm talking like free world games that are realistic like the skate2 and skate3. Does anybody know anything about a game possibly in the making?

Ps does anyone know anything about a skate 4?
 
My buddy's dad's cousin works for EA and told him that theyve actually been making a ski game for the past 4 or 5 years. Its been SUUUPER under the radar because they dont know how the public will react about a skiing game, although i heard from my buddy that theyre gonna release a demo in the fall! HYPE
 
The problem with a skiing game is skiing isn't cool. Yeah everyone on NS may think skiing is the best thing since sliced bread. But in reality, it's not cool and doesn't have mass appeal. That's why Seb Toots drives an R8 and Wallisch drives a truck.

yeah that game called SNOW looks promising. i think lots of people on here have played the beta or whatever-- search for the ""official"" thread. personally ill just wait til they release on ps4.

and no, the chances of skate 4 happening are super low. i read some comment threads on reddit where some of the people who worked on 2 and 3 were posting and answering questions and they made it sound like you should definitely not hold your breath for skate 4. too bad
 
Im just wondering how its actually going to work, is there going to be snow everywhere and you have to push with your poles everywhere and every once in a while you come across a park? Super excited on the outcome though interested on how all this will go down.
 
It be cool to be a pro and switch through their local home towns. Like skiing the steel mills in pa would be so rad. But i dint think it will sell unless it has snowboarding. Cuz all the idiots who dont do either sports will say "skiing is for old gay elites, and snowboarding is cooler and you go faster and the tricks are better" when nine if that is true. That's why EA had to make SSX with snowboarders cuz all the chill skiers would by it and the veggies on their xbox and KD,s would buy it. But yeah SNOW is pretty ill not gonna lie
 
Probably not. Companies time is worth more making games that appeal to more people overall. That's why they stopped making bmx, snowboarding games etc. There is just more profitable shit to be doing.
 
It would be pretty hard to make a skiing game that could even compete with skate 3. Skiing is not that popular compared to skating, so it would not be worth the while of a big gaming company to make a skiing game. Skate 3 is still really fun to, and I would prefer it to a skiing game.

That's really cool that you could be a filmer in the game. Obviously it would get boring just filming in a free world thing but if there was like a career mode or something you could make money, customize your person/camera and have a better reputation so that you can film pros and such.
 
SNOW is pretty neat but it doesn't really feel "real". I feel like they need to add a mode where you don't accelerate so fast and the features in the park aren't massive. Maybe it's changed since I last played but skiing the upper mountain especially maneuvering around rocks and shit was more like driving a ship then skiing.

i think a skiing game sounds like a lot of fun - if only someone was willing to make one for everyone to play... for free...

the dam SNOW the game thread has been on the top of the threads lists for over a year. How can someone be blind yet ski?

but on the real I appreciate all that you guys do. Seems like your always trying to improve vs just settling on your product. I don't know what you have for funding but I can't imagine it's an insane amount. I can only image the game y'all could put together with a budget like EA. Keep it up! Ps do you guys have a date for PS3/4 copeys?

It's a lot of work, but hearing all the positive things you guys say gives us what we need to keep going.

No news on PS4 yet.. hopefully we'll have something to announce this fall :)

Will snow ever be on xbox 360? I bought it on mac before realizing it wasnt compatible and i cant have it on consoles if its only on next gen :/

Excellent point. Tony Hawk and Shaun White have their own games yet a pro skier still doesnt have their own game. It seems as though people dont understand skiers go in parks, not just snowboarders.

Unfortunately it's impossible for us to support previous generation systems. We hope to have a Mac OS X version out eventually though, so not all hope is lost for you :)

We don't see these types of games being about the single athlete on the front cover - it's about the sport, the environment and having complete freedom to express yourself however you want. So for us (though we do work with some athletes) we want to focus on getting all the brands and all the events so you can really experience what freeskiing in a game.

To everyone out there that wants a skiing game, I think the best one you can play is Snow. Although they are still changing lots of things it's a pretty well made game so far. The only dislike I have is how you have to pay for almost all gear. It used to be free, but now you either earn like a beanie, or have to buy all the cool stuff. If Snow implemented a point system to buy gear based off tricks done in free roam/comps that would be sick. (Points NOT levels, or points given based off leveling up?) But other than having to pay for gear now it's a pretty nice game that I would recommend. Sorry for those Mac users though ;(
