I don't think it will work unless it says mac compatible somewhere. if it doesn't it will not work. If you have any further questions you should ask the person who sold it to you.

why wont it work? the question is about the hardware not about teh software

external drives should be mac compatible as long as the software for it is. check a specific external drive that you want before you bid on it.

macs arent really that different for hardware... what makes them different is their operating system, thus their software compatiblity becomes an issue for certain programs. so you have to find a mac compatible external drive. granted, i have never owned one but you should be able to find info on it in an ebay listing or on the company's website.
