Will there ever be another Candide?

Do you think that in the future there will be another skier with such an unique style and who will revolutionize ski world as much as Candide did?

Skill, Style, and Technique-wise maybe....but in terms of character and his demeanor, Absolutely not. We're lucking out as skiers to still have a dude like that still around and still crushing harder than a good portion of the ski world out right now.

Huge emphasis on demeanor. I enjoy how out of the limelight Candide tends to stay besides the occasional social media post/montec/faction/audi ad he does cuz you gotta pay the bills....But I guess what I mean by all of this is that he didn't get watered down and turned into a corny-ass insta ski influencer like a lot of our favorite pros and aged perfectly like fine wine by doing so.

maaan exactly. the charm that surrounds him makes him appear almost like a mythological figure, a legend.

he does his things and that's it, the rest is little or nothing.

In terms of skill and accolades i think Sammy Carlson comes the closest. Its pretty hard to imagine that there will be another skier who can win x games, crush slopestyle/halfpipe/big air, and then move to big mountain and do the fwt. Skiers now get pretty specialized quickly and its required with how skilled you have to get to succeed in one.

maybe there will be some kid who just ends up being built different tho

I don't think it's really possible. Woth how far skiing has grown and progressed it would be difficult to stand out. Even some of the best riders have many people around their ability or not far below.

There's def room for new trend setters, new style, tricks etc, but I don't think anyone could have nearly as big an impact.

There were far less people that good and the tricks were far less advanced.

Even something like Wallisch's super unknown edit. That shit kind of changed skiing.

We'll see some new shit, some people will blow our mind, but there's so much out there idk if anyone can impact the sport on the same level as some of the greats of the past though.

No because of the era of skiing candide came from. He was innovating and pushing the sport forward since the genesis of newschool skiing. Same goes for T Hall. Nobody can replicate that because the sport is already established.

Absolutely. I feel like if this question was asked about some other revolutionary skier before Candide was around, people would have said that there won't be another like this "pre-candide" skier just like people are saying ab Candide here. That's because a lot of what Candide was doing was completely new; people couldn't have even fathomed it before he did it. In the same vein, the reason we'd say no to this question now because we can't fathom[\I] what the next Candide-like figure is going to do. We are obviously going to say there won't be another who revolutionizes the ski world with such a unique style because we won't even be able to comprehend what that looks like until someone actually does it.

We may think skiing has nowhere to go, but I'd be willing to bet people have thought that before. It probably just won't be in the direction that we think.

After seeing Resort Laps I think Antti could be the next Candide. That man breathes steeze and makes everything look so effortless. Every edit hes in is a banger

Antti definitely has the same aura about him I'll give you that, I just don't think it's possible for anyone else to progress the sport as much as Candide has

Yeah I can agree with that. Candide definitely helped the sport progress a lot but I feel like Antti has the illusiveness that Candide has. I think its hard to compare modern day pros to pros back in the 90s cuz the sport was just starting out. Now that the sport has progressed so much its hard to have an athlete continue the progression like Candide did
