Will the United States host the 2022 World Cup?

There is a debate about who will hold it in the WC Thread already.

But its more feasible for a smaller country to hold it due to travel costs (Australia, England, Germany, etc). If you were to hold it in the US it would have to be held on a coast, not across the entire country.

No. If corruption is proven to have swayed the vote, you don't use the same vote results twice. If they're useless for proving who won, they're just as useless as proving who lost.

A new vote is the only solution.

Not to mention that the US shouldn't get another world cup so soon anyway...

no the united states shouldnt have one. they had one too recently and it wouldnt be fair.

many in the soccer industry think that australia is the best option for the 2022 world cup, we are one of the only countries in recent times (2000) where all of our summer olympics infrastructure is still intact and relied on heavily on a week to week basis for sporting events. we are hosting the Asian cup or whatever next year so the infrastructure is already there and in place. even for the world cup stadiums would just need to be upgraded to add more capacity. we have one stadium that holds 100,000+ people and a few others that are around 80,000. considering our population of only 22m that is quite a lot.

the 2000 olympics proved that australia can host world events with great success.

it is the perfect place to have it and we should have won the bid but obviously qatar can just buy off everyone. im really hopeful that we'll get it and im quite positive if it gets a re vote then we will get it.

IMO Qatar will still go on to host the 2022 World Cup. They're too rich and too powerful right now to have it taken away. Look at what's being said;

"If (FIFA chief investigator Michael Garcia) comes up with concrete evidence and concrete evidence is given to the executive committee and to FIFA, then it has to be looked at very seriously."

I doubt they will find 'concrete evidence' and even if they do, all that is being said is it will be looked at 'seriously'. Qatar have always denied that Bin Hammam was a part of their bid team,

Let's be honest, we all know FIFA and the bidding process is corrupt and no doubt $m's exchanged hands just as it has done in the past. But I still don't think there will be a revote. Things need to change but when the same type of wealthy men remain in charge, nothing will.

another reason why they shouldnt host it..

Sorry but a video by a dude with an agenda that soccer is not big in America and interviews the same 7 people who don't know shit doesn't really convince me. I bet I could find people who would answer those questions the same way in Brazil, Spain, Argentina, England, Etc. He could have interviewed 50 people and after hearing once answer to a question and they knew what he was talking about he walked away. Then finds people who don't know shit and asks them 20 questions. That video is dumb and doesn't prove anything.

Also I knew the kid on the ad at :04. /Claim

This literally doesn't prove shit. He just picked a bunch of idiots and exploited their ignorance. Regardless, there were still people who knew what they were talking about.

i know it doesnt prove anything, it was a sarcastic post. it was just a funny video of an american stereotype.

With the US coming in second in the prior vote many people are saying that it would be the favorite to win the revote if Qatar is stripped of the World Cup.

I know nothing about soccer so can someone quickly explain to me what happened with the scandal.

Sparknotes: A high up member of FIFA is from Qatar and reports and documents have come out proving that he paid upwards of $5 million to voters to fix the vote in favor of Qatar.

The same thing that happens every time anyone is awarded the Olympics or World Cup, lots of bribery and nonsense, only this time the potential to fuck with the league seasons of all the major leagues exists, so a few major sponsors(who also get yearly exposure from clubs) are demanding an investigation.

not to mention that temps in Qatar routinely get to 50 degrees Celsius, which is practically impossible to safely play football in

Those two kids in the matching Barcelona jerseys sucked in every way possible. So much. Not even in regards to soccer... Just life.
