Will skiing be mainstream again?

I was just thinking,, you know how things go in and out of style.. Do you think that skiing will ever be the thing to do like snowboarding ever again.. i know at least were i live when people find out im a skier they say, "your a skier" ( and i say back "yeah read my shirt bitch") and act suprised. I mean im not saying that skiing would be less fun if it was mainstream like snowboarding.. But ive got to say it would kinda be frustrating having possers everywhere.. discuss

this is true. with snowboarding being "mainstream", there are alot of crappy ones who think they r the shit. It seems like skiing is getting bigger but not near as big as snowboarding and I hope it stays like that.
 
i feel like where i live (tahoe) skiing has gained TONS of popularity and is getting close to as big as boarding but that could just be me.
 
yea at stratton there r tons of newschoolers around and a lot of htem throw down while others dont but i never c any of them actually skiing only riding park
 
dude skiing is so not "underground" anymore. fact is, at my hill, there are way more skiers than snowboarders.

Nah dude, screw the mainstream. I mean, Riddle being sponsored by VitaminWater....Redbull being EVERYWHERE....Simon being on Good Morning America....nah dude, we're underground to the max.
 
i live in oregon and i would say that there is a 1.3 to 1 ratio of skiers and snowboarders and i convert more everyday. :) get on it show your friends tell them why its better than boarding show the videos of 4bi9 and why its harder to do any trick on skis than on a board.

live and love skiing and it will be mainstream. whether or not we want it to be.

for those of you out there that dont want it to be the cool thing dont worry about it it will be cheaper.

so even if mommy and daddy buy you shit it will be nice because theyll buy you more.

 
It all depends on where you live. In hippy VT, I feel like it doesn't even matter, at least at my mtn. Everyone is just up there having a good time. If you can rip and you're on a snowboard, RIGHT ON....if you can rip and you're tele, RIGHT ON....etc....
 
i guess that i don't really care; as long as the technology keeps improving every year and my local mountains keep getting better, i couldn't care less how mainstream it is to ski

i liked skiing somehow like 4 years ago when we were the only persons with twins but on the other side, the park is 10 times better now, so i cant complain
 
Skiing is getting too cool and mainstream...maybe we should all quit and snowblade instead so we can be different and underground and uncool...
 
Skiing is getting 'bigger' in our eyes and for the first time in a while, we have seen a slight increase in skiers from an overall standpoint of participation. However, mainstream media and advertising is still so far behind with their perceptions of skiing vs. all of the boardsports.
 
skiings become tons more mainstream. most of the people i know and most of the people that go to my school ski, its not just my school its everywhere i think skiings becoming more popular than snowboarding
 
at my mountain there is like 8 jillion racers and only 10 freestylers but i get the vibe now that people arnt as suprised when they see skiers doing rails and jumps
 
as skiing gets more and more popular, newschoolers is gonna go through the roof with members and I think that will be good because i do know that people don't want skiing to become really popular but the more people comes the demand for better skis and products
