i hope they do but the way its been snowing i dont think will even come close. seriously theres 12 days left and no snow on jup's peak
 
theres still some snow up top, but none left down low after they made some a week or so ago, if they do open it will prob be weak...
 
It needs to be 20 degrees or below for a straight 72 hour period to blow enough snow on homerun from the top of payday to bottom of first time to make the opening date. Which isn't going to happen. The temps are ridiculously warm during the day. The aim is for wednesday. If it's still too warm and that date can't be met, then it's as soon as possible with the snow we can make during an 8 hour period over the nights when it may or may not hit operable temps.
 
alta looks to be in much better shape than park city right now, neither look good for the near future. dammit. wish I could afford a trip to CO
 
You can make snow with new technology to very high temps, in the 40's and I remember a system that claimed the 60's but I don't remember the manufacturer or whether or not they are still in business. Any snow made above 28 degrees is pretty much a waste of money and manpower. It is not a great product and takes a long time to make enough to open. I think I remember from two years ago, but don't quote me because my memory isn't that great, a snowmaker telling me that it takes 2 weeks at 30 degrees to make the same amount of snow you can make in 3 days below 20. and your end product at 30 and above is super high moisture content which means when it freezes at night it's a good sheet of ice, very bullet proof. I'll go talk to snowmaking tomorrow night and see if they have any other info like that to share with you guys.
 
I sure hope it isn't warm for that long. I dislike summer, and it's held on for too long this year. But theres always hope for an above average january. That would be a good birthday present.
 
Nope alta says for sure not thursday. they just said as sooon as conditions allow so they have no set date right now
