Will my Mac handle HD video?

Im looking at HD cameras and I want too know if my Mac will handle it before I actually go out and buy one. It handles regular video fine but I haven't gotten to try HD on it. Here are my computer specs:This is a 2005 iMac G5, so bear with me.
1.6 GHz PowerPC processor1.5 Gigs of RAMGeForce FX 5200 with only 64 mb of RAM75 Gig Hard Drive but ive got a 500 gig external hard driveits got a firewire port and plenty of USBs
and im pretty sure i cant put any more RAM in it and im not sure if i can upgrade the graphics card bc its attached to the motherboard.

any help would be awesome
 
hmmm, i would add transitions, color effects, and light effects maybe, not too much. rendering them will take forever though
