basically just what the title said.

theyre 110 underfoot and i really dont feel like getting a new ski just for my yearly trip to the west

this whole question lead me to believe any "booter" you hit with them wouldnt break the ski even if u were to land on concrete

based on the fact that they are pow skis, i believe they will! And they are great skis, got to test a pair out at my local hill last year!

i got marker griffon schizos on em too which is the sickest binding ive ever skied. so i can put them further back for pow or basically center mounting for jibbing and anywhere in between

it depends on how big you are. Im 6'0" 185 lbs and demoed them at alta one day a few years ago. just not enough ski for me. too short and too soft to the point where i almost killed myself hauling ass off piste. but if you own them you should be able to judge how well they will hold up for you.

ya in the park and groomers theyre fine and im sure they will be in the pow too. im 5'10" and 135 lbs so a bit different ;)

A ski isn't just gonna explode if you take it out of it's intended area of use. I've seen people use park skis for an entire season in pow with no problems. I've seen people use pow skis in the park for an entire season and it doesn't matter.

Sack up.... it's a fat ski in deep snow. you'll me ok.

ya. ive ridden center mount skis in pow and its not fun... buuut it can be done. ik it will be more enjoyable riding 110 underfoot and mounted back a bit

thanx... but i made 11 threads and im pretty sure theyre easy to avoid if you dont want to participate in them.

my bad dude haha

how are they not?

Any ski that is 110 underfoot would suffice as a pow ski. What is your criteria for a pow ski? rockered? non symmetrical? flex?

They really aren't a pow ski.... they're a scaled up park ski. Because of the dimensions, yes they do work for pow... but a center mounted 172 isn't the best for most riders in pow. I've rode them in pow plenty and it's fun, but definately leaves me wanting a bigger/stiffer/not quite symmetrical ski in most situations. But for OP, the flex and length should be more spot on, as he is 30 pounds~ lighter than me

This. A decent enough skiier will only need a fat ski to ski pow. Rocker will help out a tonne but all you really need is a bit of width underfoot

A decent skier doesn't even need fat skis to ski pow... They mostly just compensate for a lack of serious leg build.

depends on how big these "booters" are. 40ft and up they'll prob be a little short. you'll have to lean back a decent amount.

i've ridden them for the past 4 years and in deep snow, like +6" of pow you have to lean back a little bit. im 5'10 and 155 and mine are mounted 1.5 back from true center, so you'll be a little better off, but your tips will want to dive in really deep snow or any sort of pow w a crust on top.

they won't be "ideal" but they'll work pretty damn good compared to any other park ski. who wants to hit booters when u can search out natural tranny, butter, and slash pow?

ya we are doing everything in the backcountry. This is just the thing I was most unsure about. And they'll prob b pretty big. My friends older brother is coming with us and a pro so I'm sure they like to go even bigger than me. But it's into pow so it won't hurt :P (hopefully) and I can move my biindings up to 6.25 back so I think they will work better since I have the marker schizo bindings, which are sick btw!

Honestly, I would say not really. While I originally loved my lizzies in pow, just because they were the first 'fat' skis I had, they aren't really all that good. They float fine for skiing around, but on landings I find them quite tip dive prone. Switch is difficult too. They just aren't really long enough, only 169-170 true length with very low profile/short tips isn't ideal for what it sounds like you'll be doing.

Lizzies are probably my favourite ever ski but I think you will enjoy your sessions a lot more if you get something with rocker, or at least something 10cm longer.

thanks for the input. ill see how it goes this year then maybe next year get somthing with more of a pow rocker
