Will DiCaprio finally win an Oscar?

If you haven't heard about it already, a new movie called The Revenant is coming to theaters on Christmas Day (alongside Point Break, Concussion, and The Hateful Eight the same day). Our boy Leo, still without an Oscar, may finally see the day he wins. Personally, I think the movie looks like a masterpiece. It's directed by the same guy who made Birdman, Alejandro González Iñárritu, and won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography at February's Academy Awards. Personally I thought Birdman was great, and I have high hopes for The Revenant.

Here's the trailer:

So do you guys think DiCaprio may finally see his day on the stage at the Oscars? Discuss.

I hope so, Leo is a beautiful man and has starred in many wonderful movies. But i will miss these great memes...

Who gives a fuck about Leo not winning an oscar? The internet cares more than him about not getting an oscar

I want him to get one he deserves it. At this point he still hasn't gotten one just because the world thinks its funny

He better get one. He gets raped by a bear, that deserves an oscar.

No he doesn't. They've already debunked that. The bear in the movie is a female protecting its cubs.

Not one of my favorite actors. His characters to be to much alike for me. I find his fame to be more to the movies he is compared to his level of talent.

departed, inception, shutter island, hell fucking titanic. If he couldnt win one for any of those, I doubt this will get him one.

Have you seen the original one?

The original is a so-bad-it's-good cult classic. This one has all the stupidity with none of the character. Looks so horrible

While he has certainly given Oscar worthy performances, I'm sure most people agree that DiCaprio doesn't need an Oscar to validate his career that has seen many diverse and notable performances. Also, this movie looks intense, I'm pretty pumped to check it out.

Claim....I was an extra and a stand-in for this movie. Also met Tom Hardy and talked with him for a while. Cool guy.

End Claim.

The set was up in K-Country. They built a fort up there. Bussed us up every morning at 6AM. They built a fort where all the trappers show up. I can't say any more then that because we signed NDAs.

He hasn't won an Oscar because he doesn't deserve to win an Oscar. Every year there has been a better performance than his.

He's just the modern Peter O'Toole, an excellent actor. but the academy (despite being corrupt and crappy in general) is about the performance in a single movie, it isn't about consistency.

Every time he lost he played a good fucking role, but usually against someone who played the role of their career. Whitaker last king of Scotland, Matthew in Dallas, there's a trend here.

A consistent 90 will always lose to an 80, 70 or even a 60 who scores that one peak 95 in his career. The 90 is the better actor, but we will judge for that one performance.

Well I doubt you were there then considering that this movie is the showpiece for the the Arri Alexa 65 since 1/3 is shot on that monster. And according to Luzbeki the rest was almost all shot with an Arri Alexa M: which has a remote Head, looks a bit red like.

I was there....and I saw some giant thing on a boom and tracks that said Arri. Sometimes I saw small cameras that said Arri. Then other times I saw even smaller cameras and things that said RED on the side.

I have no idea what all that stuff was. All I was there for was to do back ground stuff and run lines as a "stand-in". I have no idea about cameras, and what specific cameras they used. I just know what I had shoved in my face from time to time.

My buddy was involved with the movie too. He was a stunt safety guy or maybe a stunt double or something? I don't really know what he was doing, but he's a whitewater rafting/kayak guy and was involved in the filming in some form or another. Pretty cool stuff.

Yes. Are you telling me they intentionally rebooted it to match the terribleness?

I really like the first one, I think you guys are giving it a harsher review than it deserves.

I don't think Leo was a good choice for this movie he's not a mountain man. Leo is more of the slightly chubby accountant like in wolf of Wall Street. I mean Chris Pratt would have even been a better choice for this role. I am curious to see how it turns out.

Point Break looks terrible

The Revenant looks amazing, but I'm probably going to enjoy myself more watching Point Break. I hope it's every bit as cheesy and bad and awesome as the original.
