Wildlife threats during winter

If I were to go on a solo Backcountry trip around the Laurentian (north QC City part), are there any significant threats that might get me killed? No jk plz I do want to know.

That would be the last thing on my mind. Lived in Quebec City for 23 years and only saw a coyote once in the back yard. There is the rare occasion I have come across a moose in the Jacques Cartier area.

Bears are hibernating, so thats usually not an issue... So even if you're in the places where the griz roam, you're unlikely as shit to encounter them in mid-winter

Your biggest wildlife threat in the wilderness is marmots imo. Those aggressive bastards are hungry thieves especially late winter. They’re really good at finding your food and chewing through packs even straps. Anything salty. So even if you’re not worried about bears, you should take similar precautions with food storage

I'm thinking MREs

I love this thread! The most dangerous thing you’ll encounter in the woods In the winter is a moose. You might want to watch out for coyotes though, I was doing a fast woods run in Utah a few years ago and I popped around a pine tree and almost skewered a terrified coyote. It’s only happened to me once but now I like to refer to them as mobile moguls.

I've only ever seen a juvenile moose in person and it was fucking massive. We don't have them around here though.

In Europe there are massive birds that will intentionally kill people by pushing them off cliffs etc.
