Wildlife encounters

My friend encountered a polar bear when skiing in Canada, will post a picture later if I can get it from him. I myself have seen black bears, moose, and all the other small animal usual stuff.

haha, yeah, Ostriches !!

In Kronplatz, Italy you have an ostrich farm right next to the slopes !!i allways stopped there with my skiing group (15-18y old kids) to feed the birds :)

Skiing at Alpine a couple years ago I encountered a bear. It was late spring and we were ripping down the back towards sherwood in one of those big ass bowls. A bunch of ski patrolers waved us down, and were Like "don't go down that way", and we looked down a ways and there was a huge bear running down the slope being followed by some guys with tranquilizers. Not really sure what the outcome was, I think they were just making sure it didn't cause trouble.

At Jackson Hole in the trees, a female ruffed grouse was chilling out and completely not afraid of the fact that we were there. So much so that she literally ran over to my skis and started pecking at them. I moved them a little by accident and she jumped and flew away, I skied over to her, and she continued pecking the shit out of my skis. If only I had a gun.... dinner.

MOOSE!!
Skiing down a casual cat trail at Jackson Hole. Trail took a hard horseshoe left turn. Almost crashed into a moose!! Literally was like 2 ft away from it. Looked it straight in the eyes for what felt like an eternity but was more like 1/2 a second, then it ran off in the other direction. I think I pooped myself...

Well, just today me and my buddy were riding some pillow lines at around 10:30 at Lake Louis. I then ate shit and sorta sat there and looked around. About 10ft away was a lynx prowling around, it was kinda scary

this story is true, it was told to me by my dad who heard it from a race official.

keep in mind that ski racers keep their edges sharper than a knife.

there was a Super G race (very fast around 70k)

one of my areas top guys was doing his run, and out of nowwhere a squirrel decides to run across the course, the racer barely even saw it, he barely felt a thing he just hoped that it lived.

well he finished his run, and looked up the hill, and right after the steepest pitch (where he hit it) there was jsut a red spot,

he hit the sqirrel, and jsut sliced it in half, the official said it looked like the squirrel just exploded

i was mounting biking up at whistler one summer and there was a huge bear and 2 cubs like 15 yards above me and my friend. you never really know how big they are until you see one. pretty scary too
