Wildcat 101 vs Jeffrey 100

Reddit is worthless when trying to get a solid ski opinion on good freestyle all-mountain blended skis (assume every Reddit skier just wants to stay planted on the ground and use Bents for a tree ski)...Anyone have an argument/opinion on the Wildcat 101 vs Jeffrey 100? looking for something to add my quiver (other ski is Praxis MVP 108 184) to play around all over the mountain and bounce in the park at times...Drop off a cliff/pillow, few spins off side hits, landing switch off a steep drop, etc. What are you grabbing (Tell me I am splitting hairs here and I'll just grab the Jeff 100 since its in stock and shipping)?

wild cat 101 sounds to directional for you. go jeff

Yeah? I didn't think it'd be that different from the Jeffrey 100. MP is -5 (probably could go up +1 or +2) with similar weight. I imagine the Jeffrey might be a bit less stiff though. Lot of fanboys for Moments lately which has mean leaning more to ON3P anyways.

ya the ski itself isn’t super directionaly shaped but the mount point is. on the jeff you could for sure get away with -2 from center or whatever you please but i’ve heard from people in the moment factory that no one there rides the 101 more than +1 from rec.

Most of the athletes that mount up the WC 101's for park bump the mount +2, or -3 from true center.

-5 isn’t “too directional” lol it makes for a ski that stays composed and tracking at speed and still allows for a balanced and neutral feel when paired with a freestyle shape like the Wildcat. Clearly you haven’t heard squat from anyone at Moment either because plenty of staff and team riders bump it up to +2 like [tag=144811]@hot.pocket[/tag] said

Yeah I was wondering this myself. I am not sure when -5 became too directional. Plenty of high level skiers are hitting just about everything on the mountain with -5, -6, -7, etc. I think I am less concerned about the mount vs the differences in the skis in terms of playfulness, pop, ability to slash, composure on landings..was hoping someone would be able to speak to that.

-5 was never “too directional” it was only perceived that way by kids who spend all their time on reddit consuming a bunch of garbage ski knowledge that people spout out with 0 understanding of how ski design works. The two skis are super similar and either one would be great. Jeff is made with bamboo so it’s a bit heavier but it has more pop. The Wildcat is ash and poplar so it has a good blend of dampness and pop, it leans a bit more towards damp imo. The Jeff also takes a bit more energy to bend up to Ollie and stuff but when you do it rewards you really well. Both are sick, both companies have great people working for them, you’d like both

nah, i personally would not mount a ski that i intend to do more than an occasional 360 on at -5.

Ok but your personal choice does not dictate fact about ski design theory brother

I mean you could mount Jeff's 2 back or skinny cats 2 up. Blister says -6 from true center is pretty much the sweet spot for a lot of people and that the moments carve better ?‍♀️

My Praxis skis are at -6 and are similar to the WC 108 (a bit stiffer maybe). It’s a sweet spot for most of what I do on a bigger ski like that, but this next ski will be for the sake of being able to spin around, land switch, hit some park laps, etc. while also using it all mountain. With that I lean towards the Jeff with a more center mount.

Also fascinated with the Elan Playmaker 101.. just like the look and the few videos are prime riding them have been awesome.

the play maker 101 is light but i see videos all the time of people blasting through crud on them going mach 10. i really wana demo them and see what’s up. i think they are sick.

Yeah love the idea of supporting Moment and ON3P, but for some reason that Playmaker 101 just looks awesome. Yeah it just looks like it wants to boost off everything as well. Super light too for it being decently stable.
