Wicked Bad Shin Bang

I have really bad shin bang, every time I ski it seems to get worst. I havent skied for a few days and I still have sharp shooting pains in my shins. Anyone know how to prevent it or treat it? Lately I have to take breaks while skiing to ice them so I can keep on riding.

softer boots help, i did park in racing boots for a little while until i realized the stiffness was jacking my shins to death. it took MONTHS to completely go away, but for a while, simple touching my shin bone would make me cry like a little girl

I have had real problems with shin bang too, ignored it for about a year and eventually it got so bad i couldnt walk after skiing. Found out i had got stress fractures in tibia and fibia on both legs! Unfortunately i cant ski now until they heal.

What boots are good and soft, i have tried crossmax's which had been softened up a load, and 1080s but they were no good either.

i fucking hate this. my legs hurt like a motherfuck!

ive tried on different boots and such. if my boot are a bit to big, whould this cause shinbang? cause my foot keeps sliding a littlebit inside the bootish.

is it better to have a loose boot or a cranked boot for shin bang? cause when it hurts bad, I just crank it more and more.

what is shin bang exactally? ive never really had problems with pain after skiing, sometimes slight discomfort, but maybe its my boots, i really like the 1080's.

It when you bruise your shins, my shins kills and sometimes its goes to the side of my calf, its messeded. I have the 1080 boot too.

simply don't land back seat. thats what usualy causes shinbang.... you gotta take it easy for a while... don't exspect it to go away after a day or so...

volkl karma: it's the sickest thing to ever happen to skiing

good news, there is a cure/prevenion, bad news it involves not skiing. to prevent dont land back seat and buckle your bottom shin buckle tighter.

i used to have that shit happen to me too but then i put an extra pad in my boot right in front of my shin and also started wearin thicker socks an it hasnt happened since

Yo dude. I used to get it really bad as well but found some solutions. 1: I shaved by shins. Some of the pain was the boots being tight but when my legs moved in the boot it pulled the hairs which irritates the muscle and skin making them sore. 2: I have really skinny legs so to pad the boot a bit a cut up a mouse mat (the wetsuit material ones, neoprene) into tongue shapes which gave a bit more padding. 3: I bought booster straps to hold my leg better and that helped alot. If you dont want to buy them just make sure you have the strap on your boots inbetween the top of the tongue and the plastic, not outside the plastic as they are shown in photos etc. Thats the proper way and i found made the biggest difference to making the pain go away. Im pretty sure it cant be the boots softness but if you want to make them softer take out the pins on each side of the heal on each boot, drops the flex 5-10. Hope this helps, ive had many a ski holiday ruined by sore shins so i know your pain.

ice them, and strech a lot(cause the muscles have something to do with it). keep your boots at a comfortable tightness, and tighten through the day as they pack out ot keep from shin bang

Ive got booster starps already but that didnt help, think i will just have to wait for them to recover properly. Giving boarding a go in the mean time, but it is shit compared to skiing!

haha all you suckers have shin bang while i don't haha!! oh wait, i don't have any snow, that's why i don't have shin bang. I CAN'T EVEN FUCKING GO SKIING!!!

given description-This fin pad inserts into the top of the foot pocket of any swimfin to prevent fin ulcers, cuts, and to make your fin more comfortable. You can cut it to the size and shape of your particular fin. It has a peel off backing to help it stick. Comes in a pair.

SHIN BANG IS NOT A BRUISE ON YOUR SHINS! its when you lean back the back of the boot penetrates through the whole leg and pulls/rips the muscle around your shin bone in teh front. thank you.

take a whole week off instead of just taking a day off here n there just cuz it hurts to bad to ski. Buy some softer boots and avoid flatish landings and bumps. Shin bang blows!

I have head freestyle boots and they helped a lot. I had rossi soft, and they were way too soft, plus i landed back seat, so i just learned to reset my stance and I got boots that fit better, and were harder (but not too hard)

I had been having problems before I got my Nordica W8's. As soon as I got them and broke them in good problem was solved. I imagine it has a lot to due with landing stance.

i thinking about selling them but to get some rossi soft1s. cause my shins are dieing right now. i cant take last year i had shin bang from rentals now i bought new boots expecting a difference but i guess i bought the wrong fitter. so im gonna try on some rossi soft 1 boots so i hear are the best. i ski mostly park so i should have to worry. from what i read on these thread are they are good for park

I think if you're having movement issues your boots are too big. and big boots suck for shin bang not to mention a whole other number of things.

Life sucks, get a fucking helmet
