Why You Should Like Ron Paul!

how is fiat currency a sham?? do you blame the government for taking this guy's personal coinage? did he expect those coins to actually be accepted as real money? that would be like paying for something at a grocery store buy giving them a hunk of metal that your promise is worth this much money. our economy has been based on fiat currency since its conception, the fact that by giving someone a certain amount of government issued money, you both have faith in its actual worth, and it works, why hate on it? do you want us to go back to trading and bartering like nomads or cavemen?
 
I used to think that Ron Paul was just an old radical idiot. However, I've done an emence amount of research about various policies and what not, and he is NOT an idiot. In fact, he is extremely intelligent and his policies make sense. He truly wants whats best for the average American citizen.

That is to say, the fact that you bolded it and alluded to another thread. It's fine to respect him for his views, but he needs a way to say his views does he not? The two go hand-in-hand.
 
how are you going to get rid of that many people?? It sounds like a project for big government to me. I mean its easy to say that we would deport all these people. But no one wants to address how ungodly expensive, as well as completely invasive to the rightful citizens that would be (if its even possible to do in the first place). It sounds pretty Nazi-esque to me. Where's the market solution from Ron Paul?! come on people.
 
i think that's different because he has a disease that does not allow him to speak otherwise. people listen to him because they know that he knows his shit, but they also know that he has a disease that forces him to talk through a computer. if someone just sucks at speaking for no reason (ex. bush), then it's going to be harder to take him seriously and/or respect him. i'm not saying ron paul sucks at speaking, he's a perfectly decent speaker, i'm just supporting filmbitch's point that the two really do coincide.
 
well, because faith in the government is the ONLY thing that makes it work. If China one day is like, fuck you guys we're not loaning you any more money, and we want you to pay up on your debt to us... the whole world would collapse. I mean its not really forseeable, but still its a fragile house of cards that we all rely on.
 
it has worked for so long, i don't see why we should suddenly lose faith in it now. i understand if there was some foreseeable reason to, but there is none.

I was alluding to the thread about Obama only because JD said we should like Obama because he speaks well. Sure the two coincide, but I don't like someone for his public speaking skills, I like him for what he has to say.
 
it certainly not a characteristic that one should solely base their vote on, but it's still a good trait to have.
 
That is my biggest problem. Internet sensation maybe, but a mainstream, obviously electable candidate he is not. My parents hadn't even heard of him. If I had two votes I would shoot one his way. If he got a reasonable number in some reputable poles id be on board. As it is, all I see here is an internet sensation. I love his ideas, best candidate out there right now IMO, but I feel like I need to vote for the most favorable candidate with a chance to win the presidency.
 
I know how you feel, but that one vote for another candidate won't do anything either. In my opinion, I would have a very hard time voting for Guliani, Romney, Clinton, or Obama. I don't see it this way, but some do: if you can get the other candidates to at least realize that Ron Paul is popular, they may adopt some of his ideas. Wishful thinking, I know.

Still, I'm not sure how many people heard the Ron Paul story on NPR. When they interviewed the people in charge of the New Hampshire polls, they said this month, Ron Paul supporters will be VERY pleasantly surprised. He now has three commercials going on there and if he can get a good percentage of New Hampshire, people who have the same fears as you would probably lean towards a vote for Dr. Paul. I really think he has a legit chance.
 
You kinda brought up the number one problem with politics these days though, there aren't any good candidates to vote for. Every election I can remember has been a matter of picking the lesser of the two assholes to be president.

If I think Ron Paul stands a snowballs chance in hell id vote for him, at least then I could feel good about who I voted for. At this point, not happening.

I don't have a huge problem with Obama, I'd rather he get the democratic nomination than Clinton. I'd rather have a democrat in office than a republican at this point, just because its time for a change, the neocons are all pricks. Problem is if Hillary gets the nomination, who the heck can the average American vote for. Way too many people have a huge problem with Hilary. I think a lot of republican voters might consider a switch at this point but not if she gets the nomination.
 
you bring up some good points. Every one of the top runners does suck and its been like this for a while.

Personally, Obama is on about the same level as Hilary in terms of who I would vote for. I would rather stay hoe at that point. As of right now, I also think a democratic president is going to be in office. I am just giving Ron Paul more than a snowball's chance in hell. He's got some time. Lets say he get %10 of New Hampshire. He also has a shot at some big numbers in Iowa because all the candidates debate there all day and that is definitely one of Dr. Paul's strong points. So big numbers early on get the nation thinking and we have a contender on our hands.

Totally out of the left field - people don't vote on how famous scientists are. His handicaps are one of the things that make him even more remarkable.

I am not going to get into a debate here, because personally, I don't care much for politics and even then I'd rather only worry about my own country's.

Although Stephen Hawking is a subject I would talk about, since I am avidly into astro-physics and he has some very interesting theories and such.

I am also all for respect.

(on the other hand i personally think Stephen Hawking is severely over-hyped, but again, topic for another discussion.)
 
I agree besides the "radical idiot" part. I challenge everyone to watch a presidential debates and INTELLIGENTLY DECIDE

for yourself who is the better candidate. Ron Paul is unwavering in his

views, cites facts and history while the other candidates use terms

like "9/11" and "terrorism" to envoke emotional fear than actually

talking about solving the problem. Don't be another ignorant American

i dont like ron paul because i am liberal so many of his views dont conicde with mine. However he awsome and one of the best things that happens in politics, hes a canidate thats real. Watching the debates he was great, On the question of would you attack a country without congress's approval most canidates said they would have to talk to their lawyers, he seemingly flabergasted stated that of course he woudnt because the constition stated he was alowed to.

I dont want a republican as president but if one does get elected i hope its him.
 
thats not true, soliders will be there for years no matter whos president. Ron Paul probably would take them out unlike even any democratic canidate
